This week, Emily took the lead in designing our Teamwork Friday lesson focused on mastering study habits for academic success. She wrapped it up with a fun and challenging memory game that put students’ retention skills to the test! 🧠✨

Way to go, Emily! Your leadership and creativity continue to inspire! 🙌👏

All AVID classes had a blast creating rubber duck replicas for our team-building activity this Friday! It was the perfect way to celebrate their hard work this quarter!

Our 6th-grade AVID students have been working hard this quarter to develop healthy habits and improve their planning skills. We are so proud of their progress and exceptional planners!

Today was our last tutoring session of the semester with our amazing tutors, Mrs. Kristal, Mrs. Heather, and Mrs. Rachel! We are so thankful for everything they’ve done to support our AVID students this semester!

AVID students read The Coffee Bean book last week and learned how they could positively impact their environment. They created inspirational coffee sleeves for our Cowboy Coffee program, which provides opportunities for our self-contained students to practice job skills by preparing and delivering coffee and other beverages to all staff members.

We’re so proud to see our Cockrill students creating a culture of inclusivity and positivity on campus! ☕💡

AVID and NJHS have partnered to sponsor a food drive for La Tiendita's after-school snack program. We will be collecting non-perishable healthy snack items throughout December. Please drop all donations to room D225 (the AVID classroom) by December 20. Thank you for supporting our community!

The AVID hoodie project is back! Our AVID students researched careers and chose a college that would be a great fit for their chosen career. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication each student put into their college research and we are excited to display their hoodies for all of Cockrill to enjoy!

Thank you to all the CMS families that contributed to our AVID Socktober event! We will be able to donate the socks to many families in need this season. We appreciate you!

Our 6th graders had a wonderful time at Texas A&M University-Commerce today! They loved the planetarium, and the dining hall was a huge hit! Everyone enjoyed their first college field trip, and can’t wait for more in the future!

Our 8th-grade AVID students had a memorable visit to SMU! They visited the Bush Presidential Library, toured the campus, and enjoyed the gaming area at the Arnold Dining Hall after lunch. Everyone had a wonderful day and loved their experience on the SMU campus!

Our 7th-grade AVID students had a fantastic college visit to the University of Texas at Arlington today. They toured the campus, saw a show at the planetarium, and dined at the Maverick cafeteria. The beautiful fall weather was a fabulous bonus!
