McKinney High School Orchestra

Welcome to MHS, Mr. Silva!

Mr. Silva, originally from Brazil, brings more than ten years of experience teaching string students in both Brazil and the United States. He holds a Master of Music degree in Viola Performance from Texas Tech University and is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree.

While at Texas Tech, Mr. Silva served as a Teaching Assistant in the Viola Studio, where he taught private lessons and performed with the graduate string quartet. As an active performer, he has played with several professional orchestras throughout West Texas, including the Amarillo Symphony, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and West Texas Symphony. He has also performed internationally in five different countries.

In addition to his teaching and performance activities, Mr. Silva co-presented at the 2024 Texas Music Educators Association Convention. He is honored to join the McKinney High School Orchestra program and looks forward to contributing to its tradition of musical excellence.

Congratulations to the McKinney High School Symphony Orchestra for being selected as a finalist in the 2026 TMEA Honor Orchestra competition. This is a first for the MHS Orchestra program, and being listed alongside the other finalists is a huge honor. Way to go, kids!

Congrats Logan, Amber, Brooke, and Annalise! Students will have opportunities to go for other officer positions in the first 2 weeks of school in August.
