Isabella recently auditioned on flute for the
TPSMEA Middle School Honor Band and will be traveling to play at the clinic later this month!

Congratulations to Silas Urban! Not only was Silas awarded his second consecutive year at TPSMEA All-State, but he won the spot of principal clarinet and concert master this weekend.

The band spent 2 and a half days together and an average of 7 hours a day playing together perfecting challenging pieces.

The TPSMEA All-State Band played:

🎼 Bravura by C.E. Duble. This was his most famous march of all his 31 March compositions.

🎼 Our Castaways by Julie Giroux, a piece about rescue animals. In her program notes, she writes: “We are all shepherds. Every living creature is in our care. Hopefully mankind will someday uphold his responsibility and become caretaker of all living things on earth. Maybe someday all humans will be humane and mankind will be kind.”

🎼 Solas Ané by Samue Hazo. This piece was a lyrical blend of piccolo solos and Celtic drumming.

🎼 J.R. By Kevin Day, a piece that starts off somber and sad and ends up triumphant and filled with hope and life.

🎼 They also played another piece by Mr. Day titled Lightning Round. A fast paced piece depicting high energy and kinetic motion. When Mr. Day composed this piece, he wrote a note to directors that wished them “good luck in making it to the end of the composition.”

Way to represent McKinney Christian Academy, Silas!

Congratulations to McKinney Christian Academy freshman Silas Urban at the high school ATSSB All Region Concert tonight. Silas played first chair clarinet under the direction of clinician, Mr. Brian Britt.

Congratulations to McKinney Christian Academy freshman clarinetist, Silas Urban. He just took first chair in the Symphonic band for Texas All-State. We are so proud of your representation, Silas.

Congratulations to McKinney Christian Academy freshman clarinetist, Silas Urban! Silas placed 1st chair in TPSMEA All-Region this week and earned a spot to TPSMEA All-State in January.

Last night, Silas also competed in ATSSB last night and received 1st chair All-Region Symphonic Band and will advance to Area. Way to represent the Mustang Band and our amazing Fine Arts students, Silas!

Best of luck to junior, Ella Downey and freshman, Silas Urban on TPSMEA All-Region and ATSSB All-Region contests this week and next! We are so excited to see where this year takes you and see you representing McKinney Christian Academy and the Mustang Band!
