How to respond to your preschooler’s BIG emotions without making the moment even bigger. 🤍

When your preschooler is crying, yelling, melting down, or completely overwhelmed, it can be really easy to react to the behavior instead of responding to the child underneath it.

Try this instead:

✨ Connect before you correct.
“Wow, you’re really upset. I’m right here.”

✨ Name the emotion.
“You’re frustrated because it’s time to clean up.”

✨ Hold the boundary.
“It’s okay to be mad. It’s not okay to hit.”

✨ Help them regulate.
“Let’s take some deep breaths together.”

✨ Reconnect afterward.
“You had a really big feeling, and we worked through it together.”

Preschoolers are still learning how to communicate, regulate, and navigate BIG emotions.

They don't need us to expect them to handle emotions like adults.

They need safe adults who can teach them what to do with those emotions.

Here at ACR, we love Fridays because that means CHAPEL!!!

Each week in our classrooms, we learn about a specific Bible story! This week we learned about the life of Joseph and how it was not always easy, but God was still with Joseph, even in the hard times!

Scripture form our story!
 “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭50‬:‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

At the end of every month, we also get to celebrate our amazing teachers by picking one who embodied our schools, values the most, and poured their heart into their kiddos and other stuff!
