What is backflow? I get asked that all the time. Here is a good article explaining it to the insatiably curious. Collin County, particularly the cities I do the most testing in (Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, Allen) does a great job of protecting our water supply from cross connection contamination.

Cold weather is approaching. An unusually cold winter is predicted. If your backflow valve is mounted outside under a fake rock or hot box, this is the time to check the condition of your insulated bag and replace it if it is torn. There is nothing I regret more than having to tell someone that their backflow valve has to be replaced because of freezing.
