Hello Orchestra! We have a quick update for you. We wanted to let you know that Mr. Bryan has taken a job at Sherman High School. It’s something he’s wanted for a long time, and we are so excited for him and his next adventure!

We are SO thrilled to welcome our new associate orchestra director, Amaris Piedra!

Amaris Piedra is thrilled to join Scott Johnson Middle School as Associate Director of Orchestras, bringing 3 years of public school music education experience to the program. Previously serving as Head Director at Kahla Middle School in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Mrs. Piedra led ensembles to consistent Sweepstakes ratings at UIL competitions, fostering a culture of technical excellence and artistic growth.

A native of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Piedra  earned a degree in Music from the University of St. Thomas. She is deeply passionate about the transformative power of music education, dedicated to sharing the positivity music brings to young lives while empowering students to hone their craft. Outside of the orchestra room, Mrs. Piedra enjoys attending the movie theater with her husband, baking, and exploring new local restaurants.

Final camp update! We are so excited for the concert today!

Camp Day Three was colorful and awesome! Join us tomorrow at 4 pm at Cockrill MS for our final concert! It’ll be a blast!

Camp Day 2 was amazing! So many good costumes and tons of progress on our music!

String Camp Day One was so much fun! Tomorrow’s costume theme is favorite movie character. We can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!

This next school year is going to be out of this world and we can’t wait! Start dusting off those instruments (especially if you’re headed to string camp on Monday!)
