Philosophy
Dow’s Prairie Children’s Center offers an environment for the development of the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of children. We believe that children learn best by doing, so we will offer a wide variety of activities, which are appropriate to different developmental levels. The materials we use encourage creativity and provide concrete experiences for problem solving. As children develop at their own rates, we anticipate varying levels of achievement. Goals
· Encourage the child’s sense of security, social belonging and independence
· Provide practice in social skills and personal initiatives in self help skills
· Encourage a well-rounded exploration in the classroom and outdoor activities
· Encourage children to use words to communicate, solve problems and express feelings
· Help acquire attention and focusing skills
· Help children appreciate and respect diversity in each other
· Develop physical skills, which include large and small motor skills
