Healthy Roots Humboldt will be closing at the end of July!

This transition is bittersweet as Katherine and I have enjoyed every moment of this journey together and the time we were able to spend with the children who came to our little school-house is precious to us ✨

“Healthy Roots Humboldt is a nature-inspired child care program for children ages 2-5 (younger children may be considered as well) owned and operated by Hayley and Katherine Brick.

We are located in McKinleyville, CA where our plentiful outdoor space is infused with ocean air, and our many nearby forested trails are surrounded by lush greenery. We are touched by the morning fog and warmed by the afternoon sun, and the children in our program have the opportunity to observe, discover, and interact with the magic of the natural world around them while learning practical life skills through play and real work.

We believe that young children thrive in a peaceful home environment, where they are provided with developmentally appropriate guidance from knowledgeable, loving adults and materials that inspire wonder, creativity, and collaboration.”

✨Hayley has a BA from Cal Poly Humboldt in Child Development and has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education since 2007

✨Katherine is a retired elementary school teacher with a multi-subject teaching credential and 20 years of teaching experience

I planted beans and peas with the children last week, left town for a few days and when I got back there were four rows of bean and pea sprouts popping up 🌱

That time I thought I’d get some sewing done while the children were asleep….but then they woke up and brought all their blankets, stuffies and baskets of books onto the couch where I was sewing teeny-tiny fairy things🤪
