Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang! 💛🖤

We love when our alumni come back home to Montini—and even better when they come back to teach and share their gifts! 🐎

Yesterday, Savanna Egert returned to Montini to help teach American Sign Language (ASL) to our middle school students! Savanna graduated from Montini in the Class of 2022 and Marian Central Catholic High School in the Class of 2026. This week, she is heading off to University of Wisconsin-Madison to continue her studies in ASL! 🎓

We are so thankful for the opportunity to watch our alumni flourish and then return to share their talents with the next generation of Mustangs.

As 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:" Savanna is truly sharing her gift with the world! 💛

As we send our alumni off to college—whether they are returning or starting this new chapter for the first time—we are praying for each and every one of you.

Go into this world. Do great things. Share your gifts. And always remember—you have a home at Montini. 🐎💛🖤

📚 Curriculum Night is THIS Thursday! 📚

We’re excited to welcome our K–8th grade parents for an evening to learn more about what your child will be learning this school year! Our teachers will share important information about curriculum, expectations, classroom routines, and more.

Please note our 6th-8th grade team meets and presents together the middle school policies and expectations!

🗓️ Thursday, August 27
⏰ Three sessions will be offered throughout the evening.

We ask that parents only attend so that we can accommodate everyone comfortably.

⭐ 8th Grade Parents: All 8th grade parents are asked to attend the 8th Grade Parent Meeting at 6:30 PM.

Our First Day of School 2026 🎉📚

What a beautiful way to begin the 2026 school year! Our Montini community gathered together to start the year with a meaningful Eucharistic Procession. ❤️🙏

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make today so special and successful—Father Rich, Father Sabo, our deacons, parents, the Knights of Columbus, the Ladies Guild, Mrs. Porch, Mrs. O’Brien, Mrs. Kolasinski, Mrs. Adams, and Mr. Colson. Thank you to McHenry Police Department for keeping us safe as we walked.

We are so grateful for the love, faith, and dedication that make our Montini community so special. Here’s to a wonderful school year ahead! 💛

🏠✨ Annual House Leadership Day!✨🏠

Today was a special day at Montini as our 8th grade House Leaders gathered for challenges that reflected everything our House System is about: Giving, Friendship, Courage, and Dreaming!

You may have seen our students around town this morning visiting different local businesses and meeting members of our incredible McHenry community. Here’s just a glimpse of what they accomplished:

❤️ Giving:Donating to local charities, including the Reeses Barkery & Pawtique - McHenry Food Pantry for Pets
🤝 Friendship: Introducing themselves to community members and local McHenry residents
💛 Courage: Stepping outside their comfort zones to greet new people, shake hands, and start conversations
🌟 Dreaming:Exploring our beautiful city, discovering local murals, finding Montini alumni, and imagining the possibilities for their futures
☕ Paying It Forward: Spreading kindness at local businesses, including AteaCo Coffee and Tea

But perhaps the most important part of the day? Life skills. Our students practiced making eye contact, introducing themselves, shaking hands, speaking confidently, explaining their mission, and interacting respectfully with people they had never met before.

These are the moments that help our students become not just great students, but great leaders and great members of their communities.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the local businesses and community members who welcomed our students, listened to them, encouraged them, and gave them the opportunity to practice these vital skills today. Your support means so much! 💛

Our staff has been working hard these past two days during Professional Development! We’ve been strengthening our safety protocols, learning new ways to use Canva to make the first week of school memorable, improving our teaching craft and growing together in faith, service, and knowledge. 🙏❤️

Today, we were especially blessed to collaborate with the wonderful staffs of St. Mary Catholic School and St. Margaret Mary Catholic School. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from one another and were inspired by a wonderful keynote from Mr. Saterlee!

What a beautiful reminder that when we learn, serve, and grow together, we become even stronger educators and a stronger Catholic community. ✝️
