Congratulations to our own McFarland School District!! Excellent job MHS!

We have some exciting news to celebrate!

McFarland High School has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best High Schools in Wisconsin in its 2026–27 rankings! MHS ranks No. 46 out of 616 high schools statewide—placing it in the top 8% in Wisconsin!

This achievement is a wonderful reflection of the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our MHS students, staff, families, and entire McFarland School District community. We’re incredibly proud of what our school community continues to accomplish!

As Superintendent Tarnutzer shared:

“What I appreciate about this recognition is that it looks at more than just test scores. It considers college readiness, graduation rates, access to challenging courses, and how well we are serving all students. No ranking tells the whole story of a school, but this is a nice reflection of the great work happening at MHS every day.

Our students work hard, our staff care deeply about their success, and we are fortunate to have families and a community that strongly support our schools.”

On this 25th anniversary of Patriot Day, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Rebuilding our nation's strength starts in our classrooms. Teaching youth about government and community service helps them feel responsible for their neighborhoods. This early learning inspires them to step up and serve as future local leaders.

By integrating strong civic education and inspiring service, we can encourage the next generation to answer the call of duty and recruit future community heroes.
