Yesterday, we gathered around the Lord’s Table and remembered what Jesus has done for us in Luke 22:1–23.

Jesus said, “This is my body, which is given for you.”

His body was given.
His blood was poured out.
And it was for you.

The Passover pointed forward to Jesus, the spotless Lamb who would lead us out of something greater than Egypt or Rome. He came to lead us out of sin and into redemption through His blood.

The old covenant wasn’t flawed. We were. We couldn’t do what Jesus did perfectly.

So we don’t simply look back at the cross and watch. Jesus invites us to remember, believe, receive, and follow.

Yesterday, as we took the Lord’s Supper together, we remembered the sacrifice that changed everything.

“Do this in remembrance of me.” — Luke 22:19

His body. His blood.
Given for you.

This Sunday, join us as we open God’s Word together and worship through song:

• Old Rugged Cross
• Jesus Paid It All
• Son of Suffering
• In Christ Alone

And together, we’ll take the Lord’s Supper, remembering the body that was broken, the blood that was shed, and the incredible grace we have because of Jesus.

He paid it all. He is our hope. He is enough.

Life has a way of dropping us right in the middle of situations we never saw coming. But here is the truth: what surprises us has never surprised God.

In Luke 22:1-23, we see Jesus gathering with his disciples for the Last Supper, knowing full well what was ahead. The disciples had no idea. Yet Jesus had a plan, a room prepared, a lamb ready, a purpose already set in motion. His death was not a tragedy that caught heaven off guard. He was a Savior born to die, the once-and-for-all Passover Lamb who gave his life so that we could be free from sin.

Whatever you are walking through right now, God is not surprised. He is not scrambling. He is working. Trust him in the middle of it.

Join us as we continue through Luke and prepare to take the Lord's Supper together next Sunday.

What surprises us doesn’t surprise God.

In Luke 22:1–23, the disciples had no idea what was coming. Judas was making plans. The religious leaders were making plans. The disciples were preparing for Passover.

But Jesus knew exactly what was coming: the betrayal, the cross, and the sacrifice.

None of it caught Him off guard. God was still working out His plan.

And that matters for us because we often find ourselves in situations we didn't expect. Life changes. Plans fall apart. Something happens that we never saw coming.

We may not understand what God is doing in the moment, but we can trust that He does.

What surprises us doesn’t surprise God.

So when life doesn't go according to our plan, we don't have to panic. We can trust Jesus, knowing He sees what we can't and is still at work.

Last Sunday in Luke 21:5-38, we talked about how easy it is to believe the right things while living as if there will always be more time.

School. Sports. Work. Family. Bills. Vacations. Church. Social media. Football. Things that aren't necessarily bad.

But slowly, we can become busy, comfortable, distracted, entertained, and tired.

And before we know it, we’re sleepwalking through life with no urgency of Christ’s return.

Don’t be deceived. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be distracted. Stay awake.
