The attacks of 9/11 showed us the worst in people. But it was also a time when many wonderful, compassionate, and heroic deeds occurred. “Heroes” were everywhere on 9/11 and in the days afterwards. The shock and the sadness also brought people — families, friends, and strangers alike — together in a way that felt special. We are also remembering those heroes and those times. Ask yourself how your own compassion can prevent future acts of intolerance and violence? It is important to express your ideas respectfully and to treat people who are different from yourself with kindness. For those who like to make plans well in advance, the board of education made that possible for you, families and other employees in Henry County after they approved the school calendars for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.
Both calendars provide at least 177 days of instruction as well the introduction of early release dates on the last days of each grading period to provide teachers the much needed time for planning and professional development. The calendars also include start dates in August and end dates prior to the Memorial Day holiday.
Mark your calendars! Our annual talent show for 2018-2019 will be on Friday, September 28th. Students in grades Kindergarten – 5th grades will be invited in September to audition for our show. Family and group acts are welcome! The summer time is the perfect time to plan and practice your act. Any questions? Email [email protected]
The 4th Grade arrival from the Jekyll trip will be delayed up to possibly 2 to 3 hours. One of the buses is having AC issues. They are waiting on another bus to come to them. Your child will contact you through the use of an adult's cell phone 30 minutes before they arrive at the school. Please be ready to meet the buses when they arrive.
