I have only received three forms back for Grandparent's Day. This will be celebrated on October 4 with breakfast items from 9:00 to 9:30, and a special chapel starting at 9:30. If you wish your child to check out with their grandparent, indicate that on the form. We need two parents to volunteer to help with set - up and clean up. If everyone could send in something for the breakfast: donuts, fruit, muffins, juice, plates, cups, etc. We will be making small gifts for the grandparents.

It is that time of year!! Time to pack Christmas boxes for Operation Christmas child. This is such a great program and so much fun! Merely explain to your child that some children have nothing (because of floods, war, tornadoes, etc. or just extreme poverty) and Samaritan's Purse delivers our boxes to individual children in these areas. Certain items can't be sent (liquids, war-related items, etc) Take you child to a store with a box and let them choose small gifts to fill their box. Be sure to include soap, toothbrushes, etc also. There are boxes at the school and the link below will give more details. You can even register online, and they will send you an email, telling the country your box will be sent to. I hope everyone can do this!

Today Pastor Rick shared with us about Israel. So interesting! Ask your student what he/she learned. We will be talking about Israel in Bible this week.
I wanted to share a couple of opportunities that would be awesome! First, on September 9 through the 11 Oak Hill Chruch in Williamson, Ga is sponsoring a Compassion event. These are wonderful. Compassion International sponsors children stuck in poverty, so they are able to go to school, eat, and learn about Christ. Obviously, this really changes their lives. This is set up, so we are able to experience a real child's life and see how things are for them. It is unforgettable. We are trying to set it up to go on Friday, the 9th. You could go online and register if you would like to attend also. Secondly, there is a fun event near Gainesville, Ga. that is happening on September 10 - only that Saturday. It is a Wildlife in Georgia festival. It is from 10 am until 3 pm, and costs $10 each. Parking is free. There will be rehabilitated wildlife, owls, reptiles, birds of prey, snakes, petting zoo, tree climbing, herpetology experts, beehives, water and forestry conservation exhibits, etc. as well as tacos, chicken, shaved ice, gourmet hot dogs, etc. Take your students and enjoy a wonderful day!

We will have a History Test over Chapters 1 and 2 on Friday. I'll have them take home their books to study Wednesday and Thursday. They should have notes (with correct answers) and a couple of quizzes to go over so they will do well. We will also watch a short video to reinforce. Please encourage them to study. Thanks!!

On Fridays, we can pay $1 to wear jeans. An approved SCA shirt (SCA polo or PE shirt) must be worn with jeans and uniform approved shoes.
I sent home Friday's homework on Thursday in case you needed more time on the weekend. The graph needs to be filled in for a week. Have a great weekend! Have some fun!

Today we did a demonstration and tonight they are to make a hypothesis (what would make their rocket pop higher?), do the experiment, and write down their conclusions (what they thought about the results of their experiment). Also, for extra credit they may bring something from nature to observe (a rock, feather, etc.) If they bring something like their dog, a parent must stay and take it home immediately after everyone sees it. Something simple is fine.
