Scholastic esports is about more than the result on the scoreboard.

Students practice communication, teamwork, leadership, preparation, problem-solving, technology skills, and how to handle both success and adversity.

For many students, joining a school esports team creates a new connection with their school and a structured place to contribute, compete, and grow.

Thank you to the educators, coaches, schools, volunteers, and families who make these opportunities possible for Ohio students.

🏫 Starting an esports team is exciting. Building a program that lasts takes more.

A roster can be created quickly. A sustainable school program is built through:
✅ An adult champion inside the school
✅ Clear attendance and conduct expectations
✅ Student leadership and meaningful team roles
✅ Communication with families and administrators
✅ Recruitment, growth, and continuity planning

Those foundations matter because a school esports program should not disappear when one class graduates or one coach changes roles. The goal is to create something students can join, improve, lead, and eventually pass on to the students who come after them.

The Shawnee State ESports Summer Camp is a 3-day, on-campus experience designed for students in grades 8-12. Participants will train and compete in Valorant (Team-based) and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Individual).

June 23 - 25, 2026
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Kricker Innovation Hub at Shawnee State University

Our Northwest Middle School Smash Bros Team travels to East Canton High School tomorrow (Saturday, March 14) for the ESO Middle School State Championship Tournament!

Our players have worked so hard to get to this point! Please drop some words of encouragement in the comments!

Our approximate match times are as follows:

Placement Match Times:
9am: Placement Round 1
10am: Placement Round 2
11am: Placement Round 3

Single-Elem Tourney Times:
1pm: Round 1
2pm: Round 2
3pm: Round 3 (Finals)

I want to send a big congratulations out to our Northwest Middle School Smash Bros Team! After an undefeated season and dropping only one match in our regional tournaments, we are headed to State!

We will be competing in the ESO Middle School State Championship on Saturday, March 14 at East Canton High School. We ended up second in the “South” region and will go up against the top Middle School Smash Bros players in the state!

That’s a wrap on our Middle School Rocket League season. We fell a little short today (2-3) but our guys have a lot to be proud of. We ended up ranked fourth in the south region of MSESO and one position away from qualifying for State. Our team left already looking forward to next year and with plans of improvement for the off-season.
