MORGAN HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

Please join us in congratulating the 1994 Morgan High School Girls Cross Country Team on their induction into the Morgan High School Athletic Hall of Fame!

The 1994 Lady Raiders put together one of the greatest seasons in Morgan High School athletic history. Led by Head Coach Paul Medbery, the team finished with a perfect 18-0 Muskingum Valley League dual meet record, captured the MVL Championship, finished as District and Regional Runners-Up, and earned an incredible 4th-place finish at the OHSAA Division II State Championships — the highest state team finish in Morgan High School history.

Their success was part of an incredible run for the program, as the 1994 season marked the Lady Raiders’ fifth consecutive undefeated season. After entering the state meet ranked eighth, Morgan rose four spots to finish fourth among 12 of the best teams in Ohio.

More than 30 years later, the accomplishments of this team continue to represent the very best of Morgan athletics. Their talent, determination, teamwork, and commitment to one another showed that a small-town program could compete with the very best in the state of Ohio.

Their historic season remains a benchmark for Morgan Girls Cross Country and a tremendous source of pride for our school and community.

Once a Raider, Always a Raider!

Please join us in welcoming the 1965 Malta-McConnelsville Big Reds Football Team into the Morgan High School Athletic Hall of Fame!

Led by Head Coach Jerry Brannon, the Big Reds completed one of the greatest seasons in Morgan County athletics history. The team finished with an outstanding 9-0-1 record and captured the Muskingum Valley League Championship with a perfect 7-0 conference record.

Even more remarkably, the Big Reds completed league play undefeated and unscored upon—a feat that has not been matched in the conference since. They outscored their MVL opponents 230-0, recorded seven consecutive conference shutouts, and allowed only 24 points throughout the entire 10-game season. Their only blemish was an 8-8 tie against Caldwell in the annual Armistice Day rivalry game.

The Big Reds earned victories over defending league champion New Lexington, Roseville, New Concord, Philo, Crooksville, and Maysville, securing the league championship by two full games. Their dominant defense recorded eight shutouts overall, while a balanced offense and outstanding line play helped the team consistently control each game.

Several members of the team received individual recognition. Grant Earich was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and earned All-MVL, All-Southeastern Ohio, and Honorable Mention All-Ohio honors. Stan Allen was named the MVL’s Outstanding Offensive Back and led the league in scoring. Numerous other team members also received All-MVL, All-Southeastern Ohio, and All-Ohio recognition. Coach Brannon was honored as both the Muskingum Valley League and Southeastern Ohio Coach of the Year.

The 1965 season was the final football campaign in Malta-McConnelsville High School history before Morgan High School opened in 1966. The seniors closed an era in unforgettable fashion, while many of the underclassmen helped build the foundation of the new Morgan Raider football program, which captured the MVL Championship just two years later.

More than six decades later, the 1965 Big Reds remain a powerful symbol of teamwork, discipline, excellence, and community pride. Their historic accomplishments continue to stand among the greatest achievements in Morgan County athletics.

Workforce Opportunity!

Field Trip opportunity:

The Petroleum Engineering department at Marietta College is hosting an Energy Technical Exhibition. This event brings together energy companies to share information about their operations and career opportunities. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with professionals across the industry, from engineers to heavy equipment operators, and gain valuable insight into careers in the energy sector.

Permission slips can be picked up from Paula or Robin and must be returned by Friday September 18th. Limited space available.
