The statewide scores from last spring's STAAR & EOC tests will be released publicly soon. Schools have already received their scores and it looks like they're abysmal statewide.
Let's be clear about something: there is no such thing as a "true" score. Statisticians — but also politicians and functionaries, such as the governor and the Commissioner of Education — massage the test scores until they achieve the final results they seek. When scores tank statewide, you can be sure that the governor is looking for political fodder to push his voucher agenda.

I would really appreciate your brainstorming help with a book project I’m working on.
You are a teacher (at any level K-16) and you have already been through COVID remote teaching OR you’re preparing to be a teacher and you may or may not have had experience with remote teaching BUT you may have been a remote learner OR you’re a parent that watched your child struggle with remote learning for a year OR you're a college faculty member in the School of Education hoping to prepare your little aspiring teachers to do better by their kids if we ever go remote again.
By “do better” I mean — don’t lose sight of the social and emotional element. Be a teacher that fosters and supports social and emotional wellness in the remote environment.
And guess what!! WE’ve got the book for you!! (Well, that's what we're working on now.)
BOOK DESCRIPTION
While some schools and universities have been teaching remotely for some or all of their curricular offerings for years, many educators and students found themselves in the online environment for the first time beginning March 2020. Most of the scholarly material we've seen since then has focused on how to teach in the online space, specifically how to make the learning engaging. Think: breakout rooms.
But here we focus on the social and emotional aspect of online learning. So many students (and teachers) reported feeling isolated during the COVID-driven remote learning experience. Here we explore how teachers can foster, promote, and protect social and emotional safety & belonging in the online classroom.
Our sense is that remote learning is here to stay. We've already seen a few school districts return temporarily to remote learning as COVID flares up in their areas. Remote learning would appear to be modern technology's answer to weather days. And special education homebound learning. And suspension or expulsion. So getting this right is critical, especially for students that might struggle in the remote environment.
HERE’S THE QUESTION:
What are the CHAPTERS in the book? That is, what are the well-developed topics for this book?
THANK YOU
