Join the Student Veterans of America (SVA) chapter at STC!

By joining the SVA, you’ll have the chance to take on a leadership role, gain real-world experience, and help rebuild a strong, supportive community for veterans on campus. Membership is open to all enrolled students, with officer elections held next spring—giving new members a unique opportunity to shape the direction of our chapter!

We’re also offering the exciting chance for active members and leaders to attend the next SVA Regional Conference, scheduled for next summer (details to be announced). Attendees will connect with veterans across the region and bring back valuable insights to strengthen our chapter. Due to limited funding, only a select number of members will attend, with eligibility based on academic, involvement, and fundraising requirements.

This morning, the City of Mission hosted a Veterans Day Parade and Fair outside the Center for Education and Economic Development. The STC Office of Student Veteran Affairs and Student Financial Services decided to team up to provide essential resources to the community! The Office of Student Veteran Affairs promoted veteran education benefits, while Student Financial Services focused on the MEDA scholarship for Mission residents. Together, they offered dual resources to support those who have served and to help residents achieve their educational goals.

A big thank you to Armando Garcia from Team Red, White, and Blue for sharing his canopy! As much as our team loves sitting directly in the sun for hours on end, it’s always nice to get a break in the shade. Thanks, Armando, for making the day a little cooler—literally!

The STC Veterans Affairs department would like to thank Ms. Dulces Casso from Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) for her continued support of our veterans! This time, she was joined by Ms. Ivelirne Hernandez, a new work-study who is currently training. Iverline brings her expertise as a Math and Spanish tutor and is already assisting veterans with their VUB applications!

We were also happy to welcome Ms. Nora Max from Goodwill Veterans Services, who stopped by to introduce herself and discuss future collaborative efforts. It was great to have both organizations here at the same time, working together to assist our veterans with education and job placement services.

We look forward to the return of Ms. Casso, Ms. Hernandez, and Ms. Max as they continue enhancing the lives of our veterans 🇺🇸
