At our studio, we believe dancers grow the most when they are exposed to a variety of perspectives, teaching styles, and professional experiences. That’s why we’re passionate about bringing exceptional guest artists and outside resources to the Rio Grande Valley, giving our dancers opportunities to learn from industry professionals they may not otherwise have access to right here at home.

What makes our Summer Intensive special is our commitment to connecting our dance community with artists from different backgrounds, disciplines, and experiences while continuing to build on the strong foundation our students receive year-round. We are proud to invest in opportunities that inspire, challenge, and broaden our dancers’ horizons.

There is something incredibly special about watching former students grow up and give back to the arts in our community. As teachers, we pour so much into the next generation, and seeing them return as artists, mentors, and educators is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

A huge thank you to Michael Garcia for an incredible Gaga style class! Your artistry, energy, and passion created such a unique and inspiring experience for everyone in the studio. As a fellow Valley native, it is especially meaningful to see someone from our community sharing their talent and making such an impact through movement and creativity. ❤️

Michael Garcia was born in McAllen, TX. His early ambition and passion for dance led him to Dallas, where he finished his training at Dance Industry Performing Arts Center & Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, during this time he was recognized as a National YoungArts finalist.

After High School, Michael was fortunate to receive his BFA from The Juilliard School, under the direction of Alicia Graf Mack. Since graduation, he is grateful to have performed with Loni Landon Dance Projects, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and is entering his fourth season as a full-time company artist at Ballet BC. Beyond performing, Michael has many pursuits in teaching and choreography and looks forward to further cultivating his career beyond company life both in Vancouver and around the world. He has been commissioned by Arts Umbrella Dance, BTWHSPVA, and is a four time outstanding choreography award winner from YAGP. Michael also teaches for Ballet BC’s MOVE program, within which he teaches both contemporary and improvisation classes for adults, as well as faculty for Orsalina28’s Walerski intensive and the Ballet BC 44 summer intensive. He has worked as an assistant for New York City Dance Alliance since 2018.

Michael has performed repertoire and creations by Bryan Arias, Roy Assaf, Aszure Barton, Sharon Eyal, William Forsythe, Marco Goecke, Johan Inger, Jose Limon, Lar Lubbovitch, Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Out Innerspace, Dwight Rhoden, Jermaine Spivey, Imre & Marne Van Opstal and Medhi Walerski.

We are thrilled to welcome an incredible lineup of guest artists who bring professional experience and inspiration directly to our students.
