"The Lady In Red is extremely important and it allows me to “walk the talk” since it addresses and highlights the importance of education, which is what I have dedicated my entire professional career as an Extension educator. Being an educator and assisting families to make commitments to educate their children was one of the most rewarding and significant things in my life, only second to my devotion to my family."

Education helps an individual to become a better citizen, which is so relevant in our current times when the very fiber of our democracy and justice is being threatened. Educated individuals will be better able to grow and develop structure and shape safer and better communities by knowing and respecting the rights of others, laws, and regulations.

We live in a time of great opportunities for women. It is a proven fact that if women become educated and earn for themselves then they will encourage other women and their girls to get educated."

"Women have historically been underpaid and undervalued in the workfield and by the community, in order to shift this mind set, we have to support the young women and guide them to show them how they can change the future and this can be done by supporting organizations such as HWNT; and programs such as Lady in Red. Also, by encouraging them to venture into the unknown and helping them attain self confidence, we can break more glass ceilings. The time is now for women to join together and build each other up and change history."

The proceeds from this event will support the financial foundation of the HWNT-RGV Latinas in Progress (LIP) Scholarship program.

💃Lady in Red “Madrinas” are women who are considered innovators and advocates on issues relating to women. These women exhibit a commitment and passion to community and public service. Madrinas are supportive of the HWNT mission and exhibit the qualities of advocacy, education, professional development and philanthropy.

Each Lady in Red "Madrina" will be recognized on Thursday, April 27th, during a "Passion Show" as they walk down the red carpet at the Regency Hall Galeria ❤🔥
