💃 What does being a Lady in Red mean to you?
With the recent passing of my mother, Lady in Red has more meaning to me more than ever. She has always given back to the community somehow especially when a young girl reached her fifteenth birthday (Quinceañera). She always wanted to be part of the great celebration when a young girl celebrates her transition into a young lady. It has been in our culture to be a great mother, build resilience and pass on that knowledge. Especially now during this pandemic, I feel that we can use our culture to continue to have resilience and pass on those legacy. Legacy that not only my mother left me but what I can do for the future of our new generation. We have the art of putting things together out of nothing, can think outside the box, and make things happen with nothing. We know how to survive. That is how we make our stories (Testimonio) and learn from them. This is just one example of how I can help the next generation of Latina Leaders. Together we can empower each other to be better and continue the great legacy that we all have.
