Keep your head up and keep learning the trade so you can master it. I speak from experience welding changed my life in so many ways. This College showed me a trade that I carry on forever.

We're going on a year and a half that we started our Midnight Magic classes. It helps our students that work daily and I need classes to work around their schedule that's why Midnight Magic was created. We have dedicated students that want to further their trade by learning how to weld and this is the perfect opportunity for them. We have 25 dedicated instructors that love what they do. If you need more information drop by technology campus will give you a walk-through in and let you know what we offer.
Night welders - Did you know South Texas College's Welding program offers late night courses? These courses enable students to earn their degrees while balancing responsibilities like families and full-time jobs during the day.
A group of dedicated students say they are preparing for their futures by opting for classes that run late into the night, 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., during the fall and spring semesters. Visit https://www.southtexascollege.edu/academics/welding/ for more information.
Here at South Texas College Summer I AWS testing is in the books. We had all our students hit it hard during this 5 week Summer I session. It's not only just about welding but also understanding all the fundamentals behind welding. Success isn’t Always about Greatness. It’s about Consistency. We're about to get Summer II semester started tomorrow. Best of luck to all our students with all their success.
Summer in full swing here at South Texas College Welding shop. The weather does not stop us a little rain does not hurt us. We have a goal to accomplish this summer to knock out our 6G AWS testing. These students are very dedicated and have a mindset that there is no room for failure just goals to accomplish. “If your dream is a big dream, and if you want your life to work on the high level that you say you do, there’s no way around doing the work it takes to get you there.”– Joyce Chapman.

Carlos Pereda passed away on March 16, 2024, he was one of our dual enrollment students from Hidalgo early college. Carlos was a dedicated student in the welding program. He was two months shy from completing the program and graduating with his structural certificate from South Texas College. In memory of Carlos we decided to make a memorial plaque in his honor to present to Hidalgo early college. The high school presented the plaque during the memorial pep-rally dedicated to Carlos. Hidalgo was very grateful for the plaque as well as all the support we offered during this difficult time. Our sincere condolences go to his Family and friends as well as the High school. May he rest in eternal peace.
It's that time of year again LITTMAS car show. Our very own Valdemar Reyna did not only make one trophy, But was in the Christmas spirit and made 2 trophies for this event. If you ever have the chance to meet Valde, ask him, “what's one thing you love and take pride in” && he would reply with “It would be building my own custom trophies to give away”
Every trophy has a story behind it. One thing that all our welding crew has in common, is that we give it 110% on everything that has our name has on it.! We’re South Texas College welding department!
