This didn’t hit me until the night before the event as I was prepping…

I’m used to hosting events and all the chaos that comes with them..running around, making sure everything flows, taking care of everyone else. But then it clicked…

This wasn’t just another event.
This was an all female open mat.
With all female vendors.
Inside a Jiu Jitsu academy run by a woman.

And for a moment, I just paused.

I’ve always been someone who loves to support others, to open doors, to create space for people to grow and shine. That’s where my heart naturally goes. I don’t usually stop and look at what I’ve built.

But that night, I felt it.
Gratitude. Pride. Purpose.
Because the truth is…this space didn’t just happen. I built it.
And I get to use it to bring other women together, to empower them, to give them a platform.

Sunday was proof of that.

Our event was such a success! full of energy, connection, support, and strength. And it wouldn’t have been what it was without the incredible support from our community, our friends, and every single woman who showed up and contributed to something bigger than themselves.

And what makes it even more meaningful is this:
I am the only female black belt in the RGV who owns her own academy on my own.
No partner. No significant other behind the scenes. Just me.

I don’t say that often. I don’t lead with it.
But today, I will.
Because it matters.
Not for recognition but for representation.
For the little girls watching.
For the women wondering if they can.
For anyone who needs to see that it’s possible.

I’m not just building something for myself…
I’m paving the way.

And today, I’m allowing myself to be proud of that. 💫
