The Sun makes it possible for life to exist on Earth. Plants need sunlight to grow. Animals, including humans, need plants for food and the oxygen they produce. Without heat from the sun, Earth would freeze. Kids and adults need sunshine as well. Sunlight helps children produce adequate levels of vitamin D, and vitamin D sufficiency protects kids from a variety of undesirable health outcomes.
He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.
Job 26:7
Did you know: The sun's gravity keeps Earth in orbit around it, keeping us at a comfortable distance to enjoy the sun's light and warmth. It holds down our atmosphere and the air we need to breathe. Gravity is what holds our world together. GENIUS!
Learning about the stars with our little ones! Using q-tips to paint with is a wonderful and simple way to help develop a child’s fine motor skills. Did you know:
Stars are giant spheres of superhot gas made up mostly of hydrogen and helium. Stars get so hot by burning hydrogen into helium in a process called nuclear fusion. This is what makes them so hot and bright. Our Sun is a star!
The curiosity of these little ones is taking off and they are getting creative by inventing their own aliens! πŸ‘½ What beautiful spaceships! Imagination helps develop thinking, learning, and problem-solving abilities!
Teaching your kids some solar system facts about the other planets will allow them to compare and contrast them to their home planet. Earth is the only planet in the solar system that’s known to have water (Jupiter’s moon Europa may have frozen water, but this has yet to be confirmed). Because of this, Earth is the only planet with life. Organisms like you, your family, and your dog or cat can’t live without water, so we need to take care of the supply we do have.
A powerful way to show kids about the solar system is to create a model. One way you can do this is by cutting different-coloured planets and laying them out to be placed in order. This helps children learn the different colors of the planet's as well!
Fourth of July cuties 😍!
God Bless America!
July is finally here!!
Fourth of July is just around the corner! Let's see what works of art we can create!
Practicing penmanship. Getting our little ones school ready!
Making handprint crafts is an excellent way for children to be creative and artistic, and a fun way for mom and dad to preserve precious memories of their growing children. Handprint crafts are also relatively inexpensive as the most vital handprint material (a hand) is free of charge! 😍
Did you know?
Crabs can walk in all directions, but mostly walk and run sideways. The lifespan of a small crab averages around 3-4 years, but larger species such as the giant Japanese spider crab can live as long as 100 years!
Happy Father's Day from all of us at McAllen Learning Center & Daycare!
Here are some of the masterpieces our little ones made for dad!
Color recognition is a key cognitive developmental step for toddlers, as it plays an important role in object recognition and is a vital part in helping children to develop their descriptive language skills, which in turn encourages clear communication and understanding.
Teaching children about colors and shapes is a great way to give them some vocabulary for describing the world around them.

Toddlers & preschoolers will learn age-appropriate social, emotional, physical, and intellectual ski

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. In preschool, prevention is the name of the game. At this age, children aren’t really capable of intentionally bullying another quite yet, but they will have disagreements with peers and act out of frustration. Being Kind is Always Nice. ❀️

Our daily morning routine. Being outside gives infants and toddlers lots of time and opportunity to develop their large motor skills, to freely crawl, walk, climb, run, and move their bodies. This promotes a healthy body and helps strengthen their hearts, lungs, and muscles. ❀️ πŸ’ͺ

Fresh air and sunshine have well-documented benefits, but being outside is good for your baby in other ways too. Their senses are stimulated by the visual contrast of trees or buildings against the sky overhead, a breeze on their face, and new scents and sounds. Spending time outside can also improve language skillsβ€”and maybe even their sleep. ❀️

Being able to use scissors to cut well is important for many preschool and school activities. Children may have the skills to use small scissors by three to four years of age, but scissor skills are not fully developed until 6 years of age.

Our little ones learned about seahorses today! Very fascinating sea creatures. Seahorses are family-orientated creatures that exhibit some extremely tender character traits and they’ve worked their way firmly into the hearts of many scuba divers. Just like our little ones work their ways into our hearts. πŸ₯° ❀️

This week we learned about many ocean animals. Dolphins are always fun to learn about! Did you know when a dolphin goes to sleep, it shuts down one hemisphere of its brain and closes the opposite eye. This allows the dolphin to monitor what’s going on around them and to regulate breathing! Incredible!

Recycling is one of the most popular environmental movements in the world today.
It’s never too early to start teaching kids about the importance of recycling! The most important benefit of teaching children about recycling is to help them understand how their actions affect the environment. By teaching them how recycling affects the environment, they will make more conscious decisions when they are out in public.
Remember the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!

Hailstones are formed when raindrops are carried upward by thunderstorm updrafts into extremely cold areas of the atmosphere and freeze. Hailstones then grow by colliding with liquid water drops that freeze onto the hailstone's surface.
Our students got to enjoy watching the rain and hail fall this afternoon. They were so excited! And the thunder was amazing!
