🎉 Mayor Justin Few recognized members of the McAlester High School Pom and Cheer teams for their outstanding achievements and for representing McAlester with pride.

Several MHS athletes earned All-American honors while competing alongside talented students from across the country through UDA and NCA programs. Those honors can open the door to special performance opportunities, including events at destinations such as Walt Disney World and Hawaii.

These student-athletes have also built an impressive record of success, including state championships and a fourth-place national finish, all while working hard in the classroom and representing their school and community.

Mayor Few congratulated the athletes on their accomplishments and wished them a great season as they prepare to cheer on the Buffaloes! 🦬💛

McAlester Public Schools is excited to announce that McAlester High School has been selected as a $5K Friday Sweepstakes winner in T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program, earning $5,000 for the school and advancing McAlester in the nationwide competition for even greater prizes and opportunities.

The recognition puts McAlester High School in the running for the next stages of the Friday Night 5G Lights competition, which celebrates high schools and communities across the country while providing significant investments in student programs, athletics, facilities, and school spirit.​ As the competition continues, 40 Division Finalists will each receive $25,000 and a hometown celebration. From those finalists, four Division Champions will each earn $250,000, a Gronk Fitness weight room upgrade, and a $5,000 Student Spotlight Award.

The competition will culminate with one school receiving a $1 million football field transformation, providing a potentially transformational investment in its students, athletic programs, school, and community.​ Schools will also have additional opportunities for recognition through the T-Mobile Fan Favorite Award and School Spotlight Awards.

Being named a $5K Friday Sweepstakes winner is an exciting first step for McAlester High School and an opportunity to showcase the pride, tradition, and community support that make McAlester special.

“This recognition is about much more than Friday night football,” said McAlester Public Schools ​Athletic Director James Singleton “It is an opportunity to showcase our students, our schools, and the incredible community that supports McAlester Public Schools. We are grateful to T-Mobile for investing in high schools across the country, and we are incredibly excited to see McAlester advance in this competition.”

Our MHS Esports Program got a serious upgrade this summer!

While students were enjoying summer break, our Esports space was getting a major remodel creating a fresh, exciting environment where our students can compete, collaborate, strategize, and represent MHS.

We’re excited to see our MHS Esports put the newly remodeled space to work this year.
