McAlester Tae Kwon Do

Our head instructor is GM Ray Harp, 8th Dan (Degree) Grandmaster under the U.S. Taekwondo Grandmasters Society, and has over 40 years continuous experience in martial arts. He also holds a 3rd degree black belt in Krav Maga, as well as certifications as a Jiu-Jitsu instructor. Elizabeth (Betsy) Dew is a 6th Dan black belt instructor. his holds a 1st dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a 1st degree black belt in Krav Maga, and holds certifications as a Jiu Jitsu instructor. Our head instructor is recognized by the International Martial Arts Federation (GM Jack Hwang - see www.jackhwangmartialarts.com), the U.S. Taekwondo Grandmasters Society, and USA Taekwondo (USAT). In April 2014, USA Taekwondo announced collaboration with the United States Taekwondo Grandmasters Society. Our Grandmaster was Jack Hwang in Oklahoma City. Three of Grandmaster Hwang's guiding principles are:
1. The main goal of martial arts is to become a better person, 2. Learn to fight to avoid fighting, and 3. The secret to happiness is giving to others. These principles are the foundation and goals of our school. (see www.jackhwangmartialarts.com). All of our curriculums are SELF-DEFENSE oriented. We also offer short-term SELF-DEFENSE workshops & classes with a comprehensive focus on being able to defense yourself in multiple, possible scenarios. You don't have to be in a black belt program to become proficient in SELF-DEFENSE. Bully and aggression management skills are also are incorporated into Tae Kwon Do and JuJitsu. PROGRAMS & CLASSES

Pandas - Ages 3 to 5 1/2
Tigers - Ages 5 1/2 to 6
Dragons - Ages 7 to 8
White Belt - Ages 9 to Adult - This is a traditional Tae Kwon Do training program, and includes training in forms, self-defense, sparring for orange belts and above, traditional kicks, punches, moving combinations (kicks, blocks, punches). This program has an emphasis on self-defense techniques. Krav Maga (close quarters combat) for ages 16 and up in both McAlester (see Krav Maga McAlester page), includes comprehensive standing and ground self defense. Our Krav Maga training program is sanctioned by the Krav Maga Association, Prof. Marty Cale, Fayetteville, AR. see our page: KravMagaMcAlester. JuJitsu for standing and ground self-defense. We have partnered with the Choctaw Nation DVPI (Domestic Violence Prevention Initiative) to provide primary prevention of assault and sexual assault training in schools.
