From the classroom to the community, Mollie Robbins is turning her passion for science and service into a career dedicated to improving lives.

A 2025 Mayville State graduate with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry, Mollie combined undergraduate research, athletics, music, and hands-on learning to build a strong foundation for her future. Now serving her hometown community of LaMoure, N.D., through her work at St. Rose-Benedictine Center, she is preparing to take the next step toward a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.

Her goal? To return to rural North Dakota and help address the growing need for accessible healthcare by opening her own physical therapy practice.

We’re CometProud of Mollie and the impact she’s already making in the community that helped shape her!

Learning, leading, and preparing to make a difference!

Mayville State teacher education majors Arianna Kjorsvik and Eve Galster attended the 2026 National Education Association Aspiring Educators Conference in Denver, where they joined future teachers from across the country to explore advocacy, leadership, and best practices in education.

Through professional development sessions and conversations with fellow aspiring educators, they gained valuable insights on topics ranging from trauma-sensitive classrooms to teacher well-being and student success.

We are proud of Arianna and Eve for representing Mayville State and for their commitment to becoming strong advocates for children, schools, and the teaching profession.

Mayville State students are making a difference in communities across the region!

This fall, sophomore Avery Lessard and 2024 graduate MacKenzie Iverson are leading the elementary music program at Central Valley School in Buxton. Together, they are teaching music lessons that inspire young learners through singing, movement, music games, listening activities, and new musical concepts.

For Avery, the opportunity provides valuable hands-on experience while she balances college coursework, teaching responsibilities, and campus involvement. For MacKenzie, it’s another example of how Mayville State graduates are making an immediate impact in their professions.

Their story reflects what happens when learning and real-world experience come together. At Mayville State, students aren’t waiting until graduation to meet workforce needs. They’re already making a difference.

North Dakota needs great teachers, and Mayville State is helping answer the call.

Through the Para-to-Teacher Pathway and Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers, paraprofessionals across the state are turning their passion for helping students into careers as licensed teachers, all while continuing to serve the schools and communities they know and love.

Since 2023, 86 paraprofessionals have chosen Mayville State to pursue education degrees through the Para-to-Teacher Pathway, with 20 graduates already entering the teaching profession and many more on their way. Combined with the university’s apprenticeship initiatives, these innovative programs are creating opportunities, strengthening rural communities, and helping address North Dakota’s teacher shortage one classroom at a time.

At Mayville State we’re proud to prepare educators who will inspire the next generation and make a lasting difference across North Dakota.

For Reece Olcott, a love of hunting sparked a journey that led to collegiate competition in both archery and trap shooting at Mayville State.

The Detroit Lakes, Minn., native grew up enjoying the outdoors and wanted to improve his shooting skills for hunting. Today, he’s a dual-sport athlete, archery team captain, and an example of how dedication and consistency can open unexpected doors.

Whether he’s on the range, in the classroom, or outdoors with family and friends, Reece continues to embrace patience, focus, and perseverance, values that have guided him from the beginning.
