Today, we are highlighting a true mainstay of our school community, Chad Lyons, as he begins his 20th year in education. As our Agriculture teacher, FFA Advisor, Agriculture Department Head, and CTE Team Leader, Mr. Lyons has spent two full decades shaping the future of agriculture and student leadership right here at his alma mater. 🌾🏆

His track record speaks for itself:

🏆 Countless state championship CDE & LDE teams and individual winners

🥇 Two National FFA Parliamentary Procedure Championships

🎟️ Another team headed to the national stage this October!

Whether he's mentoring championship teams in the ag building or serving as the unmistakable Voice of the Hornets on game days, Mr. Lyons' commitment to excellence is second to none. 🎙️❤️

School starts soon, and safety is a team sport! 🤝🎒 Here is how parents and students can partner with us to keep our campuses secure:
1️. See Something, Say Something: Use the FortifyFL app to report suspicious activity anonymously 24/7. Your tip goes instantly to law enforcement and school officials.
2️. Wear ID Badges: Look for badges on our staff and authorized visitors and ensure your students carry theirs if required!
3️. Never Prop Doors: Never prop open an exterior door or perimeter gate, and remind students never to open side doors for anyone.

Please join us in celebrating our next Lafayette Legacy: Jackie Fike! 🌟

Mrs. Fike is entering her 24th year in education, with 19 of those incredible years spent right here at Lafayette Elementary nurturing our youngest learners as a kindergarten teacher, all in the exact same classroom! 🏫🍎

This year, she is stepping into an exciting new role at LES as an ESE Support Teacher, where her years of experience, patience, and heart will continue to empower and advocate for our students every day.

When she isn’t at school, Mrs. Fike loves spending her free time hunting for unique treasures while antiquing and whipping up delicious treats baking! 🧁🛍️

Allow us to introduce you all to Melinda Allen!

Melinda brings an incredible wealth of experience to our team, entering her 17th year in education! Throughout her career, she has taught students across elementary, middle, and high school levels in both general and exceptional education classrooms.

Lafayette is truly a family affair for Melinda this year her daughter, Shy, is joining the campus as a sophomore! Melinda and her husband are also proud parents to three other wonderful children: Cody, Logan, and Caleb.

When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll find Melinda spending time with her family's animals, hitting up theme parks, or exploring Florida’s beautiful beaches and natural springs. 🌴☀️

"I am grateful for the opportunity to spend my career making a difference in the lives of students."

Please join us in celebrating one of our fantastic Lafayette High School educators! Now entering her 22nd year in education: including 7 years of inspiring our 7th-grade math students, she works daily to build confidence, positivity, and a supportive environment where every learner thrives. 📈✨

Beyond math, she wears many hats! As our Student Council Adviser and JV Cheer Coach, she loves helping students develop leadership, teamwork, and unstoppable school spirit. 📣

When she’s not at school, family comes first! She and her husband Garrett have been together for 20 years, and together they share two daughters, Miley and Carolinna. ❤️
