Educators, parents, students, and superintendents stand united in opposition to Amendment 2. Do not be swayed by misleading statements funded by out-of-state billionaires. Amendment 2 would divert critical resources from public schools and undermine the integrity of our public education system. Protect Our Schools KY mailers should be arriving soon, if they haven’t already. Out-of-state billionaires and corporations have spent millions trying to persuade Kentuckians to vote ‘Yes.’ Don’t be misled by their deceptive information. If Amendment 2 passes, the only educators receiving raises will be those in private schools, which are taking public tax dollars away from our public schools. Protect Kentucky’s public education by voting ‘No.’”
I have a few Vote No on 2 yard signs that need to be put up on property near our schools.

Yard signs are now available. Please advise on the quantity needed and arrangements will be made to pick up. My truck bed is fully stocked with the signs. My work schedule consists of custodial duties starting at 6am followed by a long-term bus driving route that ends at 4pm. I am available for coordination outside these hours.

The Kentucky Constitution is the last line of defense that is protecting us from unaccountable and inequitable voucher schemes that would plague our state and devastate our public schools. So we must do everything we can to safeguard our students from such schemes. Vote-NO-KY on 2! Learn more at: https://protectourschoolsky.com/

Today’s Word of the Day is “Notwithstanding.”
“Notwithstanding” is the word legislators slip in last because it means “in spite of.” If Amendment 2 is approved by voters in November, the General Assembly will have permission to funnel public money to voucher programs “in spite of” the fact that seven sections of the Kentucky Constitution prohibit that very thing. Not only is giving the legislature that power clearly dangerous for Kentucky’s public schools, but it’s also dangerous for democracy. If Amendment 2 passes, it will allow the legislature to fund public schools—or not. It will allow them to fund voucher programs—or not. In fact, they have refused to say what policies they intend to implement if the amendment passes. One thing is certain, though: if Amendment 2 passes, the legislature will be able to set education funding policy for Kentucky without having to answer to the people or the courts.
Can we trust legislators who prioritized their own financial gains through multiple pay raises while failing to ensure public school educators receive a living wage and fair retirement?

Public tax dollars should be spent on the public good, including public schools, not on private schools that can decide which students they want to accept or deny into their schools. We must do everything we can to protect our public schools, and to let others know we must stand together and VOTE NO on Amendment 2.

Currently, Kentucky’s constitution prohibits the use of state and local dollars to fund/subsidize private education providers
Amendment 2, often referred to as the “Voucher Amendment” because its passage would make vouchers and similar types of funding programs legal in Kentucky, is a proposed constitutional amendment that will appear on Kentucky ballots on Nov. 5, 2024. The amendment resulted from the passage of House Bill 2 during the 2024 Regular Session of the General Assembly.
A question on the ballot will ask voters whether to amend Kentucky’s top legal document (our constitution) to give the state legislature new authority to send public funds to schools “outside the system of common (public) schools.” As written, Amendment 2 seeks to create exceptions/loopholes for seven different sections of the Kentucky Constitution and allow public dollars to fund private schools and other private education providers. The law does not require such schools to be accountable to the same oversight, rules, standards, governance, transparency or open enrollment policies as Kentucky’s public schools.
