Learning meets innovation at Transitions!

Students in our Transitions program are using 3D printing technology to design and create custom practice Mah Jongg boards in partnership with the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts. This hands-on project gives students the opportunity to apply their creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills through a real-world project.

Experiences like these are what Transitions is all about - building confidence, developing career-ready skills, and creating opportunities to explore business development and entrepreneurship.

🎉 Please join us in congratulating Dr. Priya Winston, Director of Curriculum and Clinical Excellence, on graduating from the Leadership Capital Region program through the Capital Region Chamber!

Over the past nine months, Priya joined 44 professionals from a wide range of industries in an immersive leadership experience focused on personal growth, community engagement, and regional collaboration. Participants strengthened their leadership skills, explored critical issues facing the Capital Region, and worked together on meaningful projects, including the rehabilitation of Sojourn House in Schenectady.

The knowledge, relationships, and experiences gained through this program will have a lasting impact, benefiting both Priya and the communities she serves for years to come.

We are incredibly proud of all that Priya has accomplished and grateful for her continued dedication to creating opportunities, building connections, and making a difference in the lives of others. Congratulations, Priya! 👏

next? 👀

Transitions USA is a postsecondary program built for young adults with autism spectrum disorders and learning differences who are ready to keep growing. Students develop real college and career skills alongside executive functioning, self-advocacy, independent living, and so much more. The program is rooted in evidence-based curriculum, developed in partnership with institutions like the University of Washington, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the
Mayo Clinic, and delivered in a supportive community nestled
in the Adirondack Mountains of New York.

The LIfe Organization Mastery Camp runs June 15-19 and is designed for anyone who wants to simplify their life and actually stay on top of it. Over the course of one week, students explore planners, apps, routines, and practical strategies for managing school, work and every day life. It is approachable, hands-on and is the kind of thing that sticks.

Theo Robinson first connected with Transitions through our Summer
Immersion program, before becoming a full-time student. Since then, he has
continued to grow socially, independently and academically.

Through his experiences at Transitions, Theo has adapted to new
environments, explored future employment opportunities and discovered a
path toward a career in digital media. He has completed various courses at
SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College and Hudson Valley Community College, and is moving toward a
degree, building a resume and expanding his interests in art.

During his capstone presentation this May, Theo reflected on his journey and shared these powerful words to other students:

“You may struggle with your challenges, but you are NOT the anomaly and you
NEVER were. You are among people who share your struggles and they can
help you and you can confide in them... I am incredibly proud that I have made
it this far and I can’t wait to keep going.”

We are proud of all Theo has accomplished and excited to see where his future
takes him.
