As the school year comes to a close… we never stop working. Last week auditions were held for next year’s members of Limited Edition, our show choir at Mayfield. Current members and incoming freshman spent a few hours learning a dance and showcasing their singing ability to earn a spot on the roster. Congratulations to all of our Seniors who graduated this past Saturday. You have each played an important role in the Vocal Music Department throughout your time at Mayfield. Whether it was one semester or eight, you have all had a positive impact on the program, and we will miss each of you! One of our final seniors to be recognized is Kendall. She was a four-year member of the Limited Edition show choir and a two-year dance captain for LTD and the musicals during her senior year. Kendall also created choreography for several performances. She participated in several Mayfield musicals, and more recently starred as Joy, one of the stepsisters in Cinderella. She is also a member of Chorale and was awarded the Limited Edition Excellence award. Outside of music, she has competitively danced for more than 15 years, winning multiple awards and scholarships. Kendall was the Student Council president, French Club president, and an Alumni Hall of Fame student ambassador, dedicating much of her time to community service in multiple states. She even traveled to Florida for an empowerment mission. We are going to miss Kendall next year, but as she heads to the University of South Carolina to major in communications, we are confident she will be successful in reaching all her goals. Good luck next year, and congratulations on your graduation, Kendall!

Introducing McKenzie, another very talented young lady who has spent all four years with the vocal music department. She has participated in Concert and Chamber choir and Chorale. McKenzie was a 3 year member of the Limited Edition show choir, and participated in several musicals. This past year she really shined as Queen Aggravain and The Fairy Godmother. She even performs outside of school for events based on requests! She was recently awarded the Musical Theater Excellence award. When she isn’t singing, she is participating in Teens with a Purpose, acting as a mentor for young girls across northeast Ohio. McKenzie also became active on the Superintendent Advisory Board to help advocate for fellow students throughout the Mayfield school district. We wish you the best of luck as you attend the University of Cincinnati in the fall to major in political science. Congratulations on your graduation!

Our next Senior spotlight falls on Jenna, a very active member within the Vocal Music Department. She has participated in Concert choir, Chorale and as a member of the cast or crew for several of the school musicals.
Jenna was a member of the Limited Edition Show Choir and was co dance captain. She is also a member of the Tri-M National Honor Society, and the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus Honor Choir. She was awarded the Director’s Award this year. In her spare time, Jenna also participates in student athletic training, Cats Cabinet and Wildcat Focus. She also loves to read, bake, travel and all things music! We will miss you in the music department, but wish you continued success next year as you attend Bowling Green State University to study Applied Health Sciences. Congratulations Jenna on your Graduation!

Meet Elisha, another one of our talented senior students who sang in Concert choir for one year before transitioning her talents to a more behind the scenes role. She has worked in the Limited Edition show choir crew and showcased her leadership talent working as the production stage manager for most of the musicals in her high school career. Elisha earned a nomination for a dazzle award last year, and worked as a tech apprentice during the Dazzle awards. Elisha was also awarded the Technical Theater Excellence Award this year. When she’s not managing the backstage, Elisha spends her time as a member of the Pride of Mayfield Catettes and has participated in various coding and computer programming competitions. Elisha plans to attend the University of Miami where she will be studying Quantum Computing in the fall. We wish you all the success in reaching your goals! We miss you already!

Meet Clara, yet another fantastic Senior from the Vocal Music Program. She is a member of the Limited Edition Show Choir, Honors Chorale and the Tri-M National Honors Society. Clara has also participated in several os our musical performances as both a cast member and stage crew. In her free time she is also a member of the Varsity swim team, crochet club and manages her own small business. She will be attending Bowling Green State University to study visual communication technology in the fall. We will truly miss your presence and wonderful attitude at Mayfield next year but wish you lots of success in your future endeavors.

It’s time to meet Lauren, a wonderful young woman who has been an important member of the Vocal Music Department the past four years acting as co-president of the Vocal Music Officers Council. She has sang in Concert and Chamber choir, Honors Chorale and was a four year member of our Limited Edition Show Choir. Lauren also participated in the last four musical productions at Mayfield and is a member of the Tri-M National Honor Society. And in her free time she’s also a member of the Interact club, National Honor Society, Spanish club, Student Council, Wildcat Focus and plays volleyball. Next year she will be attending Bowling Green State University’s Honors College to major in early childhood education. Lauren was also awarded the Director’s Award this year. While we will miss your smiling face and wonderful attitude, we know you will be very successful in meeting all your future goals. Congratulations on graduation Lauren and we wish you all the best!

Introducing Audrey, one of our amazing seniors who spent the last four years being heavily involved in the vocal music department. She sang in Cantare, Chorale, Concert and Chamber choir, as well as our Limited Edition show choir. She also did two years of musicals and showcases her leadership skills by acting as secretary for the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and currently co-President of the Vocal Music Officer Council. Audrey has also participated in the teach program, captain of the varsity cheer squad, played softball and is a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. She is a member of Cat’s cabinet and Perfect Paws Cheerleading while also participating in the HOBY youth leadership program. Audrey was awarded the National Choral award this year. We wish you all the luck in the future Audrey, as you major in early childhood education at the University of Cincinnati. We are definitely going to miss you, but are confident that you will be successful in everything you do!
