Another day, another demonstration in solidarity! Our CEA members wore black today to present a united front both at school and for the Board Meeting.

While the discussion at the Board Meeting did not proceed as we had hoped, we still have full confidence in our Negotiation Team's ability to come to terms with the Board's team to establish a fair contract.

We stand together today... and all the days to come!

Ohio brought in $1.75 billion in surplus revenue and ended the year with $2.428 billion in unencumbered funds. Yet in last year’s budget, they refused to fully fund the Fair School Funding Plan, saying it would cost too much.

Around $536 million of these surplus funds remain unspent. Ohio’s legislature should spend it on the neediest students in the state: those with special needs, those living in poverty, and English learners.

Unfortunately talks did not go as planned last night… please continue to support FPEA by displaying our yard signs, attending monthly BOE meetings (tonight at 6:30pm in the high school Warrior Room), or emailing Board of Education members expressing your concern over the lack of progress. Union representatives for Fairview Park teachers and officials with the Board of Education will meet again Monday for contract negotiations.

Update! A tentative agreement has been reached. The strike is postponed pending the ratification vote.
