Here are some highlights from the Collins-Maxwell School Board Meeting on Wednesday, August 19th:

1. Lots of work has been happening across our school buildings this summer! We are excited to highlight the improvements made in both schools. In Collins, new carpet and fresh painting have helped give the building a refreshed look, along with a new playground fence to improve our outdoor space. In Maxwell, new tile has been installed to help update and freshen the building. We appreciate everyone who worked hard over the summer to make these projects happen!

2. Throughout the school year, our middle school and high school students will have several fundraising opportunities. These fundraisers help support our students, activities, and programs. We appreciate the continued support of our families and community as our students work toward their goals!

We are looking forward to a great school year and are grateful for the many people who help make Collins-Maxwell a wonderful place for our students!

🐦📚 Kindergarten Pigeon Hunt! 📚🐦

Our kindergarteners had so much fun today going on a scavenger hunt around the school to find the pigeon! 🔎👀

After reading "The Pigeon HAS to Go to School!" by Mo Willems, our little learners put their detective skills to work as they searched high and low throughout the building for their feathered friend! 🐦💙

What a fun way to bring a favorite story to life while exploring our school! We think the pigeon had a pretty great time visiting, too! 😊

📚 Our elementary teachers are back at it! 🍎

We’re kicking off the school year by diving deeper into the Science of Reading—learning, growing, and strengthening our instructional practices so we can give every student the tools they need to become confident, successful readers. ❤️📖

We’re so proud of our teachers for continuing to learn, collaborate, and grow together. Great teaching starts with great learning! 🌟
