🌿 Happy Birthday, Maria Montessori! 🌿

Born on August 31, 1870, Maria Montessori was a true trailblazer. At a time when women faced enormous barriers in education and professional life, she became one of Italy’s first female physicians and went on to completely transform the way we understand children and learning.

She believed children were capable, independent, curious, and deserving of respect—and she created an educational approach that allowed them to discover, explore, and learn through their own experiences.

More than a century later, her ideas continue to influence classrooms and children around the world. Her legacy reminds us to follow the child, prepare the environment, and trust in the incredible potential within every child. 🤍

These buses are bright, beautiful, and impossible to miss rolling down the road! We are so grateful and thrilled to have them as part of our school community.

“The hands are the instruments of man’s intelligence.” — Dr. Maria Montessori

The image above represents how important the hands truly are in human development.
“If you made a human being based on what your brain thinks your body looks like, you would get the picture above,” according to Dr. Stephen Hughes, Paediatric Neuropsychologist and past president of The American Academy of Paediatric Neuropsychology.

Notice how large the hands appear — because so much of the brain is devoted to movement, touch, and fine motor control. In a Montessori classroom, this is why hands-on learning is so essential. Children are constantly pouring, building, tracing, scrubbing, sewing, painting, and exploring because movement and purposeful work help build intelligence, concentration, coordination, and independence.

What a child does with their hands becomes part of how they think, learn, and understand the world around them. 💛✨

In our 48 years of schooling, this is our very first senior clap out, and we are beyond excited to celebrate these former students with so much love and support. Watching them grow from young children into graduating seniors has been such a special journey for our community.

Marley Mullinax, Izzie Newcomb, and Nolan Agee have attended the Montessori School of Mauldin from Toddler or Primary through Upper Elementary. 🌿✨

We wish them all the best in college and in the exciting futures ahead. We know they will do great things and continue to make a positive impact wherever life takes them. 💙🎓

From tiny hands in Toddler and Primary to confident leaders in Upper Elementary, we’ve had the incredible honor of watching Marley Mullinax, Izzie Newcomb, and Nolan Agee grow every step of the way at the Montessori School of Mauldin. 🌿✨

These graduating seniors are a beautiful reflection of what a Montessori education can nurture over time—independence, curiosity, compassion, resilience, and a true love of learning.

To have walked alongside them through so many formative years is something truly special. We are endlessly proud of the young adults they have become and cannot wait to see where life leads them next. 💙

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Maria Montessori on the anniversary of her passing. Though she left this world in 1952, her vision for children continues to inspire classrooms, families, and educators across the globe every single day. ✨

Maria Montessori believed that children are not empty vessels to be filled, but capable, curious human beings deserving of respect, independence, and meaningful work. Her philosophy reminds us to slow down, observe carefully, and trust in the child’s natural desire to learn.

From Montessori World Congress in Mérida 🌎

Over 50+ countries represented, all coming together with one shared purpose: the children and the future. We listened, learned, and felt deeply inspired by voices across the Montessori community—alongside insightful perspectives from medical professionals expanding our understanding of child development.

After long, meaningful days of growth and reflection, our Primary and Elementary team took time to explore the beauty, culture, and spirit of Mérida—because connection matters, too. 💛

Professional development is so much more than learning—it’s bonding as a team, reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new Montessorians, and even reuniting with past trainers and classmates from around the world.

We are incredibly grateful to our community for helping make this experience possible. Your support means more than words can express—our teachers are forever thankful for the opportunity to grow, learn, and bring this inspiration back to the classroom. ✨

Three weeks of wonder, right before our eyes 🐛✨

Our primary students have been quietly observing, caring, and waiting as tiny caterpillars transformed into beautiful butterflies. Today, we celebrated the full journey—releasing them into our garden and watching them take their first flight.

A few lingered just a little longer, resting gently on small hands… giving us one last, magical close-up before fluttering away 🦋

Moments like these remind us: patience, care, and curiosity create the deepest learning.
