A much-overdue congratulations to two of our therapists, Mrs. Mettee and Mrs. Long! 🎉

Over the summer, Mrs. Mettee completed Level 2 NILD training and Mrs. Long completed Level 1 NILD training, further developing their skills, techniques, and knowledge to better support and serve our students. We are so proud of their dedication to continuing their education and growing as educational therapists!

Our literacy program is Orton Gillingham-based, and it uses structured, sequential phonics, but adds a cognitive component that targets deeper comprehension. We are not only increasing phonemic awareness, we are strengthening the underlying processing deficits, such as visual discrimination, working memory, and auditory processing. And we are simultaneously targeting specific cognitive functions for reading comprehension.

We are honored to announce that we have been reaccredited by the International Dyslexia Association at the Accreditation Plus level.

This designation confirms that our training aligns with the science of reading, structured literacy, and IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. It caps off a yearlong review process and reflects the sustained commitment of our faculty and staff to evidence-based practice.

We congratulate every Educational Therapist trained through this program, along with our incredible team, and we thank IDA for their continued partnership in advancing literacy instruction.

Back to school is here! 📚

In case you’re wondering what a day at a Feuerstein Convention looks like… here’s a glimpse of what some of our therapists have been up to this week!

From learning new strategies and deepening our understanding of cognitive development to connecting with new and old friends from around the world, this experience has been full of growth and inspiration.

We’re excited to bring these new insights back and continue helping our students build confidence, independence, and the tools they need to thrive.

One of the highlights of the week has been spending time with Dr. Rabbi Rafi Feuerstein. We were honored to sit down with him to share about The Pearl Center for Learning and receive his wisdom, insight, and encouragement as we continue to grow. We’re grateful for his generosity, his vision, and his heart for helping every individual reach their God-given potential. What a privilege to be learning at the Feuerstein International Conference 2026 and bringing even more back to the students and families we serve.

We never want to stop learning! This week, several of our therapists are headed to Kentucky for the 2026 Feuerstein Convention. While all of our therapists have already been trained in the Feuerstein method, we’ll be spending the week learning even more tools and techniques to help students of all ages become stronger thinkers and learners. We can’t wait to bring these new ideas back to The Pearl Center and put them into practice!

What a way to spend our summer! Ms. Swanson is zip lining in Costa Rica! Mrs. Mettee is soaking in all her family time! Mrs. Driscoll visited her childhood friends! The Furrows love Tennessee!
