Lake Land College TRiO Student Support Services What is TRIO Student Support Services? TRiO Student Support Services is a federal grant program funded through the U.S. Department of Education.

The program is designed to provide an integrated support network to students who meet the eligibility criteria. LLC was first awarded the TRiO grant in 2005. Can everyone participate? There are certain eligibility requirements TRiO students must meet. Students who are eligible for TRiO must be pursuing an associate degree or certificate and meet at least one of the following requirements:
Be a fir

st-generation college student, which means neither parent or legal guardian graduated from a four-year institution; or
Meet certain income requirements, like being eligible for a Pell grant; or
Be a student who is eligible for Student Accommodations at Lake Land College

What can this program do for me? Personal Counseling
Academic Assistance
Social and Cultural Enrichment Opportunities
Career Development
Transfer Opportunities

Once you have been accepted into the program, you will be required to:
Be enrolled in classes
Meet with your TRiO counselor a minimum of three times a semester or more when required
Participate in activities designed to help you set and reach your academic goals
Participate in cultural and social activities designed to enrich your college experience
Make a real commitment to yourself to strive for academic excellence

May is indeed Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to emphasizing the importance of mental health and well-being. It's an opportunity to reflect on our mental health journeys, recognize the struggles many face, and break the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Taking a moment to pause, breathe, and engage in self-care practices can be incredibly beneficial. Whether it's through meditation, a walk in nature, journaling, or simply reaching out to a friend, prioritizing mental health is crucial. This month, let's commit to being kinder to ourselves and others, fostering an environment where mental health is openly discussed and supported. 🎉Congratulations to our TRIO SSS Student of the Month for March, 2025 - Jasmine Gast!! 👏

Jasmine has been an active and involved TRIO student since Spring of 2024. She is studying Human Services for now, and then switching to Nursing this Fall! Jasmine is in the Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kapp and serves as the Public Relations Officer, Human Services Club VP, and also serves as a TRIO Ambassador!

Some more personal things about Jasmine are that she is a mom of two children, works part-time for a non-profit, and teaches Sunday school. She loves the color yellow and taking photos in her free time.

Please help us congratulate Jasmine and thank her for being dedicated to TRIO and as a student overall. You rock! 💯
