Civil Engineering Technology (089)
This program prepares students with skills necessary for employment as a civil engineering technician with consulting engineering firms, testing laboratories, utilities and local, state and federal government agencies. Emphasis is placed on such tasks as surveying, materials testing, drafting, construction inspection, etc., associa

ted with civil engineering. There is a strong demand for civil technicians; thus, employment opportunities are good. Civil Engineering Technology provides a balance between outdoor and indoor work which many find desirable. Surveying, field testing, construction supervision and testing are essentially outdoor work while drafting, design and laboratory testing are indoor work. Civil Engineering Technology Cooperative Study Option (090)
This cooperative study option has the same course work as the regular program; however, it is extended to include 15 months of on the job experience as an integral part of the training. Civil Engineering Technology/Advanced Technical Studies (094)
This option of the Civil Engineering Technology program allows a graduate to continue his or her education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale or Eastern Illinois University. Graduates from this program of study are able to complete a bachelor of science degree in Advanced Technical Studies at SIUC with only an additional 60 semester hours of course work Upon Completion of the ATS degree and 24 credit hours of survey credits from Wyoming University graduates are able to take the Illinois Surveyor-in-Training examination. An after passing the SIT and 4 yrs of experience there after they are able to test to become an Illinois Professional Land Surveyor.

The Civil Engineering Technology Program Advisory Council is looking to fill a couple openings due to retirements and members being in active in last 2 meetings. Would like to find 3 to add to advisory council. Prefer a program graduate or 5 years in work force that works in the concrete industry, Inspection, or little bit of everything. As all other CET fields of study are covered by current members.

Council meets at least once a year to discuss the program, new equipment, program development, and etc to help continually improve the program. The meeting can last an hour or 2 and currently offer a zoom option if can’t make it to campus.

As summer has started Civil Engineering Technology are hitting the field for their summer internship. Once again Civil Design Inc has hired a CET student from our program. Hali Kreke was actually was able to start nearly a month before school ended because of our 2 day a week schedule.

Explore career opportunities with high demand in our District and statewide. Interested individuals can contact our program coordinator to learn more about the Associate in Applied Science, Civil Engineering Technology Program, which prepares graduates for various roles in construction, including Construction Management, Estimating, Material Testing, Surveying, Drafting, and GIS. The program offers a flexible 2-day per week schedule, with freshmen attending classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and sophomores on Tuesdays and Thursdays, allowing students to balance work and education. Classes are available online and on-campus from approximately 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For further information, please reach out to Josh Fulk, program coordinator, at [email protected]. Registration for the Fall semester is now open.

CET-056 PCC Theory and Design
This day our concrete class took a trip down the road to Mid-Illinois Concrete Inc to tour their Mattoon Plant. After there we followed a truck back to campus where we seen it be placed in the new South entrance on campus.

It’s always great to get out to our local material contractors and material suppliers to bring the classroom to the field.

Classes will be starting soon on just a 2 day a week Schedule.

So if you are looking for a career in high demand look no further. Lake Land College Civil Engineering Technology program is a high demand workforce ready program that is set up as part of our Tech 2 Day program. Students go to class only 2 days a week for 2 years and receive an Associate in Applied Science Civil Engineering Technology. Our students go to work for Engineering firms and/or public positions like at Illinois Department of Transportation building the infrastructure of tomorrow.

If you're wondering if it's had to find work or an internship while in the program. We readily have IDOT and local firms targeting our graduates for hire specifically looking for the diverse education of our Civil Engineering Technology program.

Students running their level Circuit with a Trimble Digital Level. Back up and down the iconic mound 1 last time with a level. Hopefully as they may say as these students will graduate this May.

Students complete 4 projects after Spring break to finish off the class Digital Level to find elevation off an NGS monument for elevation, run a traverse circuit through same points to calculate state plane coordinates, NGS Monument recovery, and Topo survey.
