LIFT Central Illinois students took part in 's annual Green & Gold Day of Service on September 23, putting their skills to work and giving back to communities across the region! 🤝

Leadership, Culinary Arts and IT students traveled to Effingham to serve at The Cattery, Catholic Charities and The Silk Purse. Communications and Childcare students traveled to Arcola to help with grounds and landscaping at the United Methodist Church. HVAC and eMAC students stayed in Mattoon to repair wooden helicopters for the Franklin Preschool playground.

We’re proud of our LIFT students for using their time and talents to support local organizations and make a difference in the communities around them!

LIFT students and facilitators Mrs. Peterson and Mr. Jacobs recently attended the Mattoon Business Expo.

Mr. Jacobs’ students helped with the Taste of the Expo, while Mrs. Peterson’s students represented LIFT at the LIFT booth.

It was a great opportunity for our students to connect with local businesses and represent LIFT in the community. We enjoyed seeing our students put their skills into action and connect with the community. 🌟

A big thank you to Fields Church for donating books and supporting Birth–to-3’s Early Literacy Initiative! Every baby born at Sarah Bush Lincoln will receive a book along with information about the importance of early literacy. 🍼📖

We’re grateful for community partners who help put books into the hands of our littlest learners! 💙

Mr. Compton recently took a LIFT EV kart to Ameren’s headquarters in St. Louis for their Community Voice Workshop! ⚡️🏎️

He had the opportunity to speak with Ameren employees and community members about LIFT, the EV program and the opportunities available to students through hands-on learning. We’re proud to see LIFT students and staff sharing their work beyond the classroom!

On September 11, 2026 LIFT students and staff participated in the annual 9/11 Stair Climb Challenge in remembrance of the 2,977 lives lost on 9/11 and in honor of the First Responders who put themselves in harm’s way to protect and serve others. 🇺🇸👮‍♀️👩‍🚒

The stair climb was part of LIFT’s daylong effort to honor area First Responders, who were invited to stop by LIFT for free food and beverages provided by the LIFT Culinary Program. ☕️

We are proud of our students and staff for taking part in this meaningful tradition and helping keep the spirit of remembrance alive. ❤️🤍💙
