Today was our school service day and we are all done. I guess the fact that so many are playing basketball means that we did not tire them out too much!

GCA graduate, Natalie Snyder (class of 2018), was featured by her college for her work in marine biology. Way to go, Natalie!

RE**er Spotlight - Natalie Snyder

Meet Natalie!

Natalie is a senior here at UNCW and is set to graduate this upcoming spring with an undergraduate degree in marine biology. She has been a member of the lab since January as she obtained a paid job to help with miscellaneous tasks and recruit care. 

In her time here she has also aided one of our master's students, Reanna Jeanes, with her research before conducting her own research project. Currently, she is finishing up said Undergraduate Honors research, being done in collaboration with Dr. Ushijima’s lab on how probiotics can affect the survivorship of coral larvae. 

Apart from the lab, Natalie is a frequent diver at the Fort Fisher Aquarium, and when she graduates in the spring Natalie plans to move to the Philippines to work with “Reefs for Life”. You rock Natalie!

Thanks to a parent who could not get free on Wednesday but volunteered to finish up on Saturday anything that was left over, the 8th and final project from our service day is now complete! [the rotted/broken fire pit seats were replaced with new boards]

Greyfriars alumna, Allison Lawing, was commissioned to create 12 hand-thrown mugs for this year's spring fundraiser. These are truly special items! These will be gifted to some key individuals who made our spring fundraiser a success. Starting tomorrow and continuing off and on over the next couple of weeks or so, we will randomly select one person from each of the following groups:

• Donors to our spring fundraiser
• Parents
• Faculty
• Students
• Board
• Administrative Staff

Tomorrow's selection will come from among our 18 faculty members. Teachers and students learning and growing together are at the heart of our school!

Today's service day was a fantastic show of cheerful hard work--"for the people had a mind to work" (Neh. 4:6)! Thank you to for their food donation at lunchtime!

Our service day t-shirts are being printed tomorrow and given out on Wednesday (April 7) at our workday!
