💪 Word of the Week: GOAL SETTING.
Every black belt you've ever met started as a white belt with one goal: come back next class. That's the secret — big goals are just small goals stacked patiently. This week, ask your student what their next little goal is. (And watch their face when they hit it.)

School Saturday 🐯 Friendly reminder that taekwondo isn't just for kids. Our teens & adults train hard: real technique, real fitness, real self-defense — and a community that happens to kick. No experience needed, no judgment on the mat, and yes, you'll be sore in a good way.
Curious? Your first class is free — one-on-one, no experience needed: https://calendly.com/matthewstkd/freeintro?utm_source=Facebook&utm_campaign=adults-organic

🥋 Technique Wednesday: why boards break. It's not strength — it's physics: 1️⃣ Speed beats muscle. A fast technique carries more energy than a strong slow one. 2️⃣ Aim PAST the board. Stop at the surface and the board wins. 3️⃣ Small striking surface, big follow-through. Which is also a life lesson, if you squint: commit all the way through the thing you're scared of. 🎯

💪 Word of the Week: DISCIPLINE.
Discipline is doing what needs to be done even when you don't feel like doing it. It's the rep you do when the drill got boring three reps ago. It's showing up on the day you almost didn't. Motivation gets you started — discipline is what's still standing in week six. This week, we salute the students who keep showing up.

School Saturday 🐯 — and a note for the parents making back-to-school lists right now: if “something that builds focus and confidence” is on it, we'd love to meet your student. Our intro class is free, one-on-one, and zero pressure — just comfortable clothes and 30 minutes. Kids who are shy, wiggly, or learn a little differently don't just take classes here. They thrive here. 📅 Book your free intro: https://calendly.com/matthewstkd/freeintro?utm_source=Facebook&utm_campaign=bts-organic

🥋 Technique Wednesday: the block. Blocks are the first thing we teach and the last thing anyone brags about — but ask any black belt what saved them in sparring. Three cues: 1️⃣ Start from the chamber — a block has a wind-up, just like a strike. 2️⃣ Block with the forearm, not the hand. 3️⃣ Finish strong — a lazy block is just a suggestion. Defense first.

💪 Word of the Week: INTEGRITY.
Integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody's watching. On the mat, it looks like counting every rep honestly, telling your instructor “I'm not sure I've got this yet,” and older students teaching younger ones the right way — even when the shortcut would be easier. We build it one honest rep at a time.

School Saturday 🐯 New month, same mission. August is a big one around here — a new school year on the horizon and belt testing at the end of the month. Whatever you're working toward this month, we're working toward it with you. Let's go, August.

School Saturday 🐯 Here's what perseverance actually looks like around here — and it's quieter than you'd think. It's a student trying the same block a fifth time while an instructor kneels down to their level. It's the adult who showed up after a long week. It's small wins stacking quietly until one day: a new belt.
Proud of every one of them this week. See you on the mat!

🥋 Technique Wednesday: the front stance.
Nobody signs up for taekwondo dreaming about stances — but every kick you'll ever love starts with one. Three things we coach in a front stance: 1️⃣ Long and wide — feet farther apart than feels natural. Your base is your power. 2️⃣ Front knee bent over the ankle, back leg locked out straight — that straight back leg is your drive. 3️⃣ Shoulders square, weight forward — ready to strike or move without a warning.
It's the least flashy thing we teach and the most important. Which is fitting, because that's this week's word: perseverance — showing up for the unglamorous stuff until it becomes your foundation.
