Many languages. One community. 💛

A multilingual childhood is about more than learning extra words. It is about having more ways to connect.

A friend to play with. A grandparent’s story to understand. Another way to explain an idea when someone does not quite understand the first time. 🌍

At Legacy European Academy, we value a community where children can participate and families feel their home language is welcome.

And there is meaningful research behind this approach:

💬 Learning to consider the person listening.
A study published in Psychological Science found that children with multilingual exposure were better at using a speaker’s perspective to understand a request. This included children who mainly spoke English but regularly heard another language. The finding concerned a specific communication task, not a promise of higher intelligence.

📚 Seeing everything a child knows.
Research in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research showed why looking at only one language can miss part of a bilingual toddler’s vocabulary. Words learned at home and words used elsewhere can belong to the same growing language repertoire.

🤍 Making room for natural language mixing.
Family guidance shared by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association describes mixing languages as an expected part of multilingual development. A 2025 study in Behavioral Sciences also found little association between parents’ language mixing and their young children’s vocabulary size overall.

For us, these ideas come to life through shared play, stories, questions and everyday conversations. Children need meaningful opportunities to hear and use language, with people who are ready to listen. 🌱

A pumpkin big enough for a hug. 💛

Fall feels a little closer when you can hold it in both hands.

At Legacy, we love exploring the season through simple things: a pale pumpkin tucked into small arms, an apple half pressed into paint, and a finger pointing at the weather wheel.

An apple-tree activity brings us together for circle time. There are pumpkins to hold and examine, each with its own shape and curves.

There is plenty to notice without rushing: how an apple makes a print, where a hand rests on a pumpkin, and what catches a child's attention along the way.

The paper smiles were fun. The little faces behind them were even better. 😊

Today, October 2, we're celebrating World Smile Day at Legacy European Academy!

A silly grin on a stick, a friend beside you, a smile that appears before the photo is even taken. These little moments bring so much warmth to a day together. 💛

We love how much personality comes through in this collection. Some children hold their paper smiles proudly. Some peek over the top. And sometimes, the best smile is the one that doesn't need a prop at all.

World Smile Day is a lovely reminder that kindness can be small and still mean a lot. A friendly hello, an invitation to join in, a little patience with someone else. 🤗
