“For the young person who is struggling in school, never forget there are many different ways to learn. Be curious. Do not be afraid to try. Do not be disappointed when making mistakes. You will discover your own unique way of understanding the things being taught. Learn from mistakes. Everything that happens to you will frame who you are, and who you will become. Your path to success will follow.” Jerry Pinkney, Caldecott Award Winning Illustrator, 1939-2021

“The most, MOST important thing is to read. Read all the time; read when they tell you not to read, what they tell you not to read, read with a flashlight under the covers, read on the bus, standing on a corner, waiting for a friend, in the dentist’s waiting room. Read every minute you can. READ LIKE A WOLF EATS. Read.” Gary Paulsen 1939-2021

BEHIND THE SCENES...
with Jane Driscoll, High School Kitchen Lead

It’s not easy feeding a hungry crowd, and Jane Driscoll, High School Kitchen Lead, serves up healthy meals to our students with a winning attitude. Our food service team is among the best, and their work is important, because good nutrition helps Mattawan students show up at school and be ready to learn. Did you know that when kids have a balanced diet, that behavior can be improved causing fewer disruptions in class? That means a better learning environment for all. With Jane's leadership, our high school food service team plans, prepares, and serves, up nutrition. Not only that, they work to ensure that kitchen equipment and prep spaces are clean, keeping all students safe. Mattawan's Food Service Teams make the difference and play a vital role in our schools. Join us today in celebrating the work of Jane Driscoll, Mattawan High School Kitchen Lead.
