At Semper Flight Aviation Center, we believe the gift of flight belongs to everyone who has ever looked up and thought, “What if?”
In just two months, we’ve grown our fleet, become a part of the aviation community from West Point to Williamsburg and beyond, and launched Colonial Air Tours—which has already flown dozens of missions over the Historic Triangle, giving our guests a completely new perspective on the history that helped forge our nation.
Middle Peninsula Regional Airport is a beautiful place to fly, and we’re incredibly proud to call KYJ home. Our aircraft are meticulously maintained, our hangars are going up (better late than never), rentals are ready, and our onsite A&P is here to serve the flying community.
Most importantly, we’re building a team we’re proud of.
Our CFIs are aviation professionals, and that’s exactly how we treat them. Their knowledge, experience, time, and responsibility matter. They’re not simply instructors—they’re a fundamental part of the culture we’re creating at Semper Flight. We believe good instructors deserve to be respected, supported, compensated accordingly and not treated like the company is doing them a favor by letting them fly their planes.
That same philosophy carries through everything we do.
What we’re building here is intentional. We’re not interested in simply recreating the traditional flight-school model because that’s the way it has always been done. We’re building the kind of flight center we wanted to see in our own community—one where students, instructors, renters, families, and guests all feel like they belong.
We train military members, blue-collar professionals, career-minded aviators, and a whole lot of young people between the ages of 8 and 15 who are discovering aviation for the first time.
And we love watching them grow.
From the very beginning, we’ve made it a point to share the journey. The first discovery flight. The first lesson. The first solo. The first checkride (so far). The new rating. The milestones that sometimes seem small but represent enormous accomplishments to the person sitting in that cockpit.
We’ve been proud of our students and guests from day one, and we intend to keep celebrating their progress every step of the way.
Because aviation is about people.
If you’re serious about learning to fly, advancing your ratings, renting an aircraft, or simply experiencing the Historic Triangle from the air, we’d love to have you visit.
There are plenty of places to learn to fly, and we genuinely encourage people to explore their options, meet the instructors, see the aircraft, ask questions, and find the place that feels right for them.
We’re proud of what we offer, proud of the people who make it possible, and proud of the community we’re becoming part of.
We’re not the oldest.
We’re not the biggest.
But we’re building something we believe can be both.
And we’re doing it with a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of hard work, and a tremendous amount of gratitude.
From the beginning, our mission has been simple: give more to aviation than we take from it and help anyone who has ever dreamed of flying actually do it.
We’re incredibly grateful for the response we’ve received so far.
We’re grateful to The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Kind and Queen County, the West Point Chamber of Commerce, the local businesses across Williamsburg and West Point, and even the FAA. We are especially appreciative of the tenants and staff of KYJ for welcoming us into this community.
We’re also grateful for every student who has trusted us with their aviation journey, every guest who has climbed aboard Colonial Air Tours, every renter who has trusted us with their flying, and every instructor who has chosen to build this with us.
There’s a lot more ahead.
And we’re just getting started.
We’re not just teaching people to fly.
We’re building a flight center, an aviation community, and something that we hope will still be here inspiring the next generation of aviators long after we’re gone.
We’re proud of it.
We’re grateful for it.
And we’re having an absolute blast building it.
Every day is a great day at KYJ, where touch-and-goes are always permitted.
