Help a Second Grader Discover the Power of Reading!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: 2nd-grade students are at a critical milestone in their literacy development—transitioning from learning to read, to reading to learn. The Reading Heroes Program pairs dedicated volunteers with 2nd graders who need an extra boost in their reading confidence and comprehension. Just a half hour a week can change a child's entire learning journey.

VOLUNTEER DETAILS

Time Commitment: 30 minutes per week (M-F 1:25-1:55)

Location: 2nd grade hallway

Requirements: Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude

No prior teaching experience needed—we supply all training and materials!

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH 2ND GRADERS?

Critical Impact: 3rd grade reading proficiency hinges on 2nd grade progress.

Quick & Rewarding: Just 30 minutes from 1:25-1:55 during 2nd grade ELA Polar Time

Build Confidence: Help young readers master phonics, vocabulary, and sentence flow.
