Tonight's the night! Join us at 6:00 for our Fall Recital, "Autumn Dreams"!
Admission is free - doors open at 5:30. See you then!
Belle is ready for tomorrow night's recital - are you?
Join us tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:30) to hear her and all of our other talented students!
To prepare for the recital this Saturday, students got to rehearse with our accompanist during their lessons this week. Everyone sounds SO GOOD! I can't wait for you to hear them all!

During his lesson today, Bray asked if he could fill out my "I ❤️ music lessons because" frame.
His reason was that he loves music lessons because he gets to sing fun songs. We think that's a pretty great answer. 😊

Like Gloria Estefan said: "The rhythm is gonna get you."
Well not today, rhythm!
Rhythms like this can be tricky because of the syncopation; the accent falls in between the beats instead of on the downbeats. In my lesson this afternoon, we broke it down using 3 simple steps:
1. We figured out the length of each note, and wrote in the counting.
2. We clapped and counted the rhythm, paying special attention to those eighth notes that fell in between our claps.
3. We wrote in the text and spoke the words in rhythm while clapping.
After that we went back and sang through the piece, and my student nailed it perfectly! Try it yourself next time you are struggling!

Why should students get to have all the fun? Teachers can be performers, too!
I got to spend the past two weeks in "A Grand Night for Singing" at Trumpet in the Land, and it was amazing! Beautiful Rodgers and Hammerstein arrangements, swinging choreography, and such a talented cast. It felt good to be on stage again!

Congrats to Grace Notes student Belle Fockler on finishing her run as Flounder in The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County production of "The Little Mermaid"! Belle rocked the part, and the entire cast and crew did a tremendous job. Well done to all!

SUPER excited to share that our very own Grace Notes singer Katherine Huntley has made the Top 25 for the Shining Star Cleveland competition! Woohoo! 🎉
This is a very selective competition, with entries from all over northeast Ohio. The next round is this Sunday, so wish Katherine luck as she sings again to try to advance to the Top 10!
