The WV Sound Foundry is a nonprofit youth music performing arts program located in Masontown, WV, serving Preston and Monongalia Counties and surrounding area. The program offers private lessons, workshops, classes, and live music performance groups for all ages. Students receive a balance of private instruction, group practice, and live public performance to showcase their talents. Students are e

ncouraged to choose which songs and genres they want to learn to become well-rounded musicians and confident performers. Our mission is to provide a unique music education experience and to develop confidence and youth involvement. We work to foster productivity and social responsibility through creativity, communication, and collaboration in the development and enhancement of musical performance and concert production skills through participation in a “band” style educational setting. Live public performances are used to showcase students’ talents as well as promote and fund-raise for local community efforts. The WV Sound Foundry teaches students that performing arts provides them with the tools to think creatively and use their talents to promote community involvement in fundraising for underprivileged youth and performances engaging the local community.

Good evening Foundry fans! Please help us welcome the addition of a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 Mr. Paul Burger to our teaching staff. Paul will be providing 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 and 𝗰𝗼-𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝘀. Included below is his bio to learn more about his background and musical expertise. We are excited to welcome Paul to the team!

Paul is a native of Brooklyn, NY. He was making music professionally by the time he finished high school in 1982. He played clarinet and saxophone in the school band and found the guitar at age 13. Now, 48 years later, Paul has been a member of several bands and performed as a solo singer/guitarist for most of his career.

After leaving Brooklyn and finding Almost Heaven, West Virginia in the early 2000s, Paul continued entertaining for events, parties, and local clubs. As a sitting member of the Preston Community Arts Center, he helped produce concerts and street fairs featuring local and national artists in Kingwood, WV and surrounding areas, including a music and arts festival which lasted until the Arts Center closed its doors as a result of the Covid Pandemic.

In 2024, Paul helped to create a music program for Laurel Academy in Terra Alta, WV. Most recently, he accepted a position to join the WV Sound Foundry in Masontown, WV where he will provide private instruction and mentor developing youth bands.
