Rafting on the Río Pastaza…
In short, our boat got caught in a cross current and flipped. One of the paddlers inadvertently nailed me in the face with a paddle while we were flipping. My foot hung in the strap and I was trapped under he raft for a few seconds longer than I was comfortable with. Finally popped up and saw all bobbing heads were accounted for and being rescued by our expert kayak guides. Our boat guide quickly had our raft upright and we were on our way within 800 yards time. Fun times!

Cotopaxi let us climb but was very bashful to show us much of a view. Inclement weather prevented making it to the glacier, but we topped out at 16,065’! Taller than the Rockies or Rainier…
My students were awesome and showed a lot of heart to trudge through the harsh conditions!
