NIACC President Joel Pedersen and softball coach Matt Egger took the Ice Bucket Challenge on Sunday to support the S.H.O.W.E.R.S. Project in Mason City.

This volunteer group is working to open a daytime resource center offering essential services to unhoused and displaced individuals in our community.

Our softball team happily handled the dousing duties, and they may have enjoyed it a little too much. Thank you to everyone supporting this worthy cause!

Students had the opportunity to connect with representatives from 52 institutions across the Midwest, including community colleges, four-year colleges and universities and career training programs. It was a great opportunity for students to explore their options, ask questions and start thinking about what comes next after high school.

It was another Trojan Gold Rush on campus today! Our advisors set up their tent to celebrate students, offer a little encouragement and hand out small surprises. Today, students stopped by for some tasty treats to help start their day off right. It’s a fun way to connect with our students and remind them that they are always at the center of everything we do at NIACC.

Starting today, a portion of College Drive will be closed for storm sewer construction. The closure is expected to last up to 10 days and will temporarily prevent direct travel between the main campus and student housing. During construction, the student housing parking lot will remain accessible from 12th Street. Anyone traveling between the main campus and the residence halls should follow the posted detour using 12th Street, California Avenue and Highway 18. Please allow extra travel time, use caution in the area and follow all posted detour signs. Thank you for your patience as this important work is completed.
