It's Rising Star Intern Adriane Hurlburt back with the final intern update of the summer! Megan and I have had a busy but exciting couple of weeks helping at the North Iowa Fair and presenting to the Mason City Council alongside our Poultry Ambassador, Aubrey Otto. During the presentation, we shared information about poultry education, the Poultry Ambassador Program, and the resources available through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
Looking back on this summer, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with local youth, promote poultry education, and help launch the Poultry Ambassador Program. It has been rewarding to see the program take shape, and I look forward to watching it continue to grow after my internship ends.
One of my favorite accomplishments this summer was creating a Backyard Chickens resource page for the Cerro Gordo County Extension and Outreach website, where I helped develop A Beginner's Guide to Backyard Poultry to help community members get started with raising poultry responsibly.
Thank you to everyone at ISU Extension and Outreach and the community members who made this summer such a memorable and rewarding experience. It has been an incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and serve Cerro Gordo County!

It's Megan with a Rising Star update!
This week, we had our final JAMS 4-H meeting and celebrated all of the hard work we put into this summer with ice cream!
I can't believe the summer is already coming to an end! Looking back, we packed a lot into the last couple of months and got to do so many fun things, like making charcuterie boards, tie blankets, and digging for fossils, all while learning more about agriculture and food science.
Watching our members try new things, build new friendships, and grow their confidence with each meeting has been so fun, and it's been rewarding to see all of the lessons learned. I'm grateful for the time I got to spend here and excited for the future of JAMS 4-H!
