Iowa youth (ages 13ā17) are invited to put their skills to the test at the Iowa Farm Bureau Cookout Contest, happening Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.
This is their chance to:
⢠Show off their cooking talent in a fun, high-energy environment
⢠Gain confidence and experience in a live contest setting
⢠Win BIG prizes!
The youth grand prize winner will go home $300 in cash and a gas grill valued at $1,000 (courtesy of the Iowa Propane Gas Association).

Our final 2026 Cerro Gordo County Farm Bureau Scholarship Spotlight features Samuel Dodge.
The CGFB scholarship is awarded to a high school senior whose parents/guardians are Farm Bureau members in Cerro Gordo County. Applicants were selected based on academic standing, leadership experience, civil involvement, and their commitment to rural Iowa and the agricultural community.
Samuel is the son of Hillary Dodge. While a student at Clear Lake, he was involved in Football, Track, Basketball, FFA, and Mentoring.
Samuel plans on attending Upper Iowa University where he will study Ag Business.
Per letter of recommendation, āI am extremely proud of Sam and how much he has grown over the past two years. His passion for the agricultural industry, combined with his genuine drive to help others, sets him apart as a leader. He has a strong
work ethic and enjoys taking on leadership roles in clubs and organizations"
Good luck to Sam as he pursues his goals at Upper Iowa University!
