🚧 Project Spotlight — NIACC Building Trades Concrete Testing & Finishing Session

This week’s Project Spotlight looks a little different — instead of highlighting yards poured or miles paved, we’re shining a light on an investment in the future of our industry.

Croell, Inc. team members Barry Nielsen (Sales Manager) and Shawn Noling (Quality Control Manager) spent the day with students in the North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Building Trades Program, giving them a hands‑on look at the science, standards, and skills that keep our industry moving forward.

Students learned why proper testing procedures and professional certifications matter, how quality control impacts every project, and what it takes to produce reliable, high‑performing concrete. After live demonstrations, they rolled up their sleeves and practiced real finishing techniques — including decorative concrete applications that many had never tried before.

One special connection made the day even more meaningful: Shawn Noling is a proud NIACC alumnus. Seeing a former student return as a leader in the industry showed these future trades professionals exactly where hard work and hands‑on learning can take them.

By partnering with programs like NIACC, we’re helping prepare the next generation of builders, finishers, and quality control experts — strengthening our communities and our workforce from the ground up.
